Hi Yall, I've been putting off applying for an FFL03 & COE since I've moved, but I'm missing out on some C&Rs I want 😭. Currently my drivers license reflects my old address because I currently still own that home and I will be keeping it that way until it can be sold. Am I still able to apply for a FFL03 & COE since I know that the FFL03 can have a different address (my current residence) from my ID (previous residence) but will this affect the COE application, since CFARS requires a drivers license and it reflects the previous residence. Do the addresses have to line up?

Thanks in Advance!

Im pretty sure you just have to have it updated in the dmv but the id doesnt need to be updated on the card.
So are you saying it has to be the same address on the FFL03 and COE? My registered address at the DMV is the same as the driver license and won’t be switched until house is sold. I’m not sure if I’m explaining it right or not.

So for it to work if im not mistaken you will have to go to the dmv website and update your adress to the one you currently live at. If you dont do that you wont be able to legally get your coe, it doesnt need to be on your driver's license it just needs to be update in the dmv system

I see, so I'll have to wait for the house to be sold before I can apply for the COE. Hopefully I can do some more digging thanks!

I think you'll be able to submit the COE, when I was transitioning addresses, my ID wasn't updated on my DL, but DMV record was updated, so my COE and FFL03 applications went through. However, you should still update your physical DL as soon as possible as it makes future purchases easier.
