Just in my own isolated world, I have moved over to maglocked rifles as the more reasonable option for me.

True statements
-Some features are more important than others to different people in different use cases.
-Maglocked is just limiting one feature.
-Featureless is limiting 4 or more features.

How these statements apply to your use case will certainly vary.

The only really ty part of being featureless is the grip. Stock and muzzle device, meh. If you have standard cap mags 100% go featureless, but if you only have 10 round mags, could go either way.

i threw my sparrow grip back on, stock lock and have a 50/50 blast can shroud up front. Can’t remember the brand but similar to the blackmoose one. Covers part of the barrel and looks slick coming out of the handguard.

My question is:
What are the differences between just a blast can versus a brake plus blast can? If a brake reduces muzzle rise but it’s entrapped and redirected forward by blast can/shield, is it any different?

I built two ARs featureless just so I can use my freedom week mags and not get in trouble. I used Strike Industries' Megafin grip and reversed the safety on the right side so it doesn't get in the way of the thumb rest. I have two other ARs, one rifle and one pistol, that are maglocked and they work fine, but don't like that I'm restricted to 10 round mags.

For range fun, I would probably prefer the fixed mag. However, for any type of real situation I will grab featureless

I like it better than a standard fin grip. I decided to go with the Megafin b/c my Kali 9 has a thumb rest and it made holding the rifle one-handed easier.

1. Featureless with fin grips look like ass but it's still a perfectly functional rifle.

2. Fixed mag gives you all the nice features, but gimps your rifle for anything except as a range toy.

That said, I add my support for CompMag as well, at least for fixed mag options.

AR receivers aren't meant to be opened and shut repeatedly every time you want to reload the rifle as most fixed mag options have you do. It puts a lot of stress on the rear takedown holes, and aluminum is pretty soft and will crack/warp if abused enough. It's also a pain in the ass to deal with any kind of critical failure/double feed/etc. when the receivers are locked together by a captured takedown pin.

CompMag is great to keep stuff compliant here in state, and easy to unF- if you hop over to NV for a range day, but for pure practicality featureless wins.

Featureless for any sort of defense imo. Is just not worth it for maglock. Any sort of jam will take 2 weeks to remove magazine.

For plinking, maglock is pretty fun if you have freedom mag laying around.

I was thinking about that grip, but after watching a video by The Armed Scholar on it, I decided against it since it's possible to grip below the action while still being able to pull the trigger. Maybe the marketing literature can be used as a defense, but if a lawyer thinks it might be a gray area, I'd rather err on the side of caution.

There is no way to fire the gun if you’re holding it as you describe. There are multiple grips with similar ergonomics, Sparrow for example, and they are so functionally compliant.

On initial builds featureless is the way to go. If you have multiple then you can start straying in to fixed mag realm for some nicer builds.

I have registered AW, featureless, & fixed mag. I travel a lot and so the comp mag setups are usually what I take with me to other states because they are easy to convert back and forth when legally able.

I like comp mag because it lets me easily change to unneutered AR for the ranges worth spending money on. Or in the event I'm a tourist to the USA.

Of all the fixed mag options, I feel like this is the method I'd try. Ever run into any issues with the compmag?

Got one recently. Would def recommend it, they’re super easy to take out. if you plan on going out of state or to a private place that doesn’t care if it’s compliant then go with the comp mag. Just a personal preference but I hate featureless.

I just picked up a CompMag and will try it out. I don't mind the featureless so much, but damn do I hate the grip angle on any compliant grip.
