I didn't post a price. I got them on a discount because of a vendor promotion. These aren't out just yet. These are the Pilla Zeus models equivalent to the Vista X supposedly. I'm waiting to see what they retail for.


Yeah.. I don't just use them for the range. They make good travel glasses too. Changing the lenses to whatever is super useful. Its a bit loud but I care about my eyes more. Since I visit the tropics a bit with really strong sun the infrared protection, like ceramic tint keeps the residual heat off your eyes, was a factor for me.

I really like the Oakleys I have 4 pairs lol. So don't get me wrong. I've tried a lot of pairs of eyes, the other things about this hobby is being a gear nut. There's a reason the sites search feature works the way it does! So many people enjoy using the site to find all kinds of regret purchases or I have five too many of this and that. I swear when I meet people in person, a lot tell me they're always on looking for stuff. I'm like Information? Training?

Members are also way more in tuned with the site now than I am with a lot of things. Case in point the bug thread.

It's good to get feedback from everyone... We're all fellow gear heads.

Some people on here I swear, thats why I rarely post in the forums.
Bunch of negative nancy's, grumpy old men, and talkers.
Thought we were all here to share experiences and opinions, and help each other out.
Same reason my wife barely posts at all, she shared our bad experience with TSA once, immediately some guy started talking . It wasnt even a super negative post, just sharing a bad experience on what we went through with TSA, one of the many times we have flown with guns in our Check bags.

Man, I’m already invested in the Outlaw 7. Sure hope I don’t like these. But then again I have Rudy Projects dating back to the Ketyums. So we’ll see.

So what I heard was that the glass is extra clear and she likes the styling/colors available. Surely there are more reasons than that to be 3x the price of Oakleys.

I can believe that there’s better filtering of various wavelengths of light (including infrared), as well as clarity. They definitely are no more protective from stray casings or shrapnel compared to the other companies.

I think the customization, increased clarity, and durable but lightweight materials make sense for its price point. I just don’t know that it makes any difference to a shooter like me, who wears Oakleys only when shooting outdoors 1-2x/ month.

Unlike @ikeo1 I would not wear these oversized glasses anywhere else. I wear other glasses for international travel, business travel, social occasions, camping, sporting events, or driving.

I see these glasses as something for very serious shooters/competitors and as a fashion choice.

Plus other sports. They help depth perception and color contrast. If you shoot 1-2x per month, you’ll regret purchasing these. But if you shoot, play tennis, pickleball, running, cycling etc. I plan to do a triathlon with them. It makes sense but if they’re dedicated shooting glasses it might not make sense.

Oakleys with the prism lenses are good to go. Rudy Projects are also good to go.

the thing is you can buy Oakley’s etc anywhere. Since we’re a bit more niche I’m looking for products I like that I would share, not just for fashion but also functionality.

I have other Oakleys too and they add up to the same price overall. I take my eyes seriously and increasingly ears more seriously the more time I spend shooting. I’m at the range 1-2x a week right now training people. Some classes are 2-4 days 1000-1400 rounds from 8am-4pm. So my use case is a little different.



They will help you marginally but it’s very little. I don’t care if theyre ugly, it’s like a glock to me. If you shoot a staccato or atlas or infinity you probably will get these lol. Or if you shoot skeet, they’re noticeably different for orange. It’s mainly for color manipulation. Everyone’s eyes are different so you can tune the lens to your eyes for your discipline, which was pretty cool.

Oakleys will like get you 85-95% there, all depends on your vision. It’s good to discuss eyes though in general this is how they’re different. Oakleys have limited color options so emphasizing different colors is more limited because they’re mass market. Majority of people don’t need to go beyond Oakleys Rangers or Hunter Gold Rudy Project etc.

I have a preferred sunblock, sun shirts, gaiters, etc. when you’re outside often you have to put together a good routine so you don’t get sunburned and minimize lead exposure.

My sports are mostly swimming and water related, so it’s different for me.

I agree with ear protection! I’ve struggled to find good in the ear hearing protection. I always double up, and recently discovered Apple AirPods work remarkably well under over the ear protection. They are the only ones that fit and don’t shift, and my guess is the NRR rating is very similar to many other plugs.

Increased depth perception is a big plus in some circumstances. I wear almost exclusively polarized for the glare reduction but that wipes out depth reception. Especially for your triathlon type stuff, if any of it is on trails or unstable terrain. Depth perception enhancement would be great for hunting as well, along with some color enhancements depending on what is being brought out. I'll dump a grand without a thought on something that brings my killing critters game up a notch.

When I found the Dillons and started wearing them for long days on the road, on the water, in snow, etc., I was amazed at how much less eye fatigue was present at the end of the day. I've tried many of the other "top" brands and none compare. Plus, it's fun having people ask me if I can see out of them.

Is there a set of in ears you like better than others?
I was dead set on ordering some Ottos this weekend, then my wife was telling me to order other ones. I forget the brand, but they are like $2000 and custom fit. My insurance will cover $1200 of the cost though. So I may go that route.

How’d you determine what insurance would cover, did you call the insurance company and give the specific model and ask? Or go through a PCP? Do you have an underlying condition that makes them covered or are they covering it just for heating loss prevention?

Growing up I didn't understand why shooters would wear yellow/gold tinted lenses. Saw the hunters hd gold sales pitch and was still kind of skeptical.

I stumbled onto these bolle glasses and I highly recommend, these are great for guests you bring to the range if you are using nicer lenses like the pillas in this thread.

The slight tint cuts glare in bright sunlight but also works on overcast days. The thin bars are comfortable under earmuffs too.

Anybody have experience with the MagnaLenss?

The selling factor for me is the comfort of not having the frame tips pinching under my ear muffs; extending my time at the range w/o the pain. Unfortunately, not fan of ear buds or plugs.
