Question Ever had a scope or lpvo cerakoted; and you hear sandblasting media noise when turning the magnification or parallex adjustment? Air compressor?

Hope your day is going well.

Just wanted to ask if you ever had a scope or lpvo cerakoted; and you hear sandblasting media noise when turning the magnification or parallex adjustment? The windage and elevation are ok, no noise there; and the rest of the scope looks good though. But it’s the crunchy noise in the magnification and parallex adjustment…..Oh my goodness; my ocd is kicking in.

Does the air compressor method work in getting in the nooks and crannies to get it out? If it does or doesn’t; does the sand blast media hurt the magnification adjustment or parallex adjustment at all? Does the sand blast media eventually grind it self down to no noise at all?

Oh my god, don't tell me you had a scope sandblasted without taking it all apart.
If you have a scope with crunchy knobs, STOP turning the knobs as you are causing damage every time you hear the crunch.
The air pressure from blasting is what got the sand INTO there so the only thing that more air will do is get it deeper into there.
The only way to properly get the sand out of the moving adjustment knobs/rings is to break the scope down and clean and then reassemble.

Scopes are usually argon purged as they are assembled so make sure your scope service guy is setup to handle that.

I don't work on scopes so I have no idea how your scope comes apart.
They are all likely different though.
Find a scope service person or send it back to the manufacturer to be fully disassembled as needed to get the grit out, cleaned and put back together.

It may be less expensive to throw the damaged scope away and purchase a new one and call it a lesson on things that should not be done.

how much do scope service guys generally charge? Iron sight has retired. seems like heritage has taken over. looks like $275 for the scopes listed; my bushnell isn’t listed. even if my scope was listed, i might as well just buy a new scope for $275.

based on reading the warranty, i already voided the warranty by cerakoting it.

seems like maybe bushnell might have deleted the technicalities recently to their warranty policy. before in the past when reading the fine print, it would have been voided. but i might have a chance now; hopefully.

maybe they are trying to be similar to vortex; but i doubt it.

You most certainly voided any sort of warranty by having it Cerakoted.

The moving parts will eventually gall and get locked up.
You can use it until that happens.
