Exactly the point Im trying to make. I legitimately cant see why someone would vote yes on 50. (Besides the hate for trump). Unbelievable. The only right call is to ban gerrymandering and that is what we should have done. Lead by exampleWe need to continue to remind people who so quickly forget.
We do vote on things that are left to decision….but America is not a Democracy.

we in CA literally just voted not long ago on this. The people spoke and we made the California Citizens Redistricting Commission (CCRC)

Bear with me while I torture an analogy, if you will... out of the company. First they go after GPUs..."it's AI, that should stop it right?" The AI company says GPUs are super common...they're used in everything...that's insane. The government goes after specific bits of code. They force the AI company to move the lidar scanners around so the cars can only drive backwards now. The AI company fights them ever step of the way, refusing to accept blame, refusing to acknowledge the problem, refusing to change, and demonizing the government and the townspeople. there is a lot of trust to rebuild. And unless and until a crisis that suddenly requires having swarms of high-functioning AVs, the townspeople really have no reason to initiate that process. what you own. Most liberals probably still won't want to be part of gun culture, and definitely don't want guns becoming even more ubiquitous in their everyday lives. The 2A community talks a lot about why it shouldn't need to do anything, but I'm saying...fix the problem and you will have your guns.

Say you live in a town that has had cars forever, but now a change in legislation has brought a whole new class of autonomous driving vehicles to the road. Car and tech enthusiasts in town think this is super cool and start using them left and right. The company boosts the local economy, brings some national recognition, and even baits some great new restaurants to town. Very cool. But then all of a sudden one of the AVs plows into a group of school children. Your kid is killed. You're furious and demand the company come explain itself. The AI company holds a town hall and their rep tells everyone "we feel horrible...this was so sad...fortunately it was an isolated incident. That car's software was buggy. Also non-AV cars do hit people...just keep that in mind. But we don't want you to think your concerns are falling on deaf ears, so here's what we'll do...we'll build a giant data center here in town. More processing...better data....it will make everything better."
Um...ok? They build the data center...suddenly more AVs start showing up. Things are going ok. ...Until another AV plows into a group of school kids.
Haul the rep back out... "yeah, the car was hacked. Total crazy person. Ugh. Again, isolated incident. Also there are too many AVs in town now....it's not feasible to get rid of them. People love them. We'll build two more data centers in town. Put some cybersecurity people on it. It will get better."
This keeps going.... there are more AVs on the road now than there are people....more school kids get run over...one AV initiates ludicrous mode and plows into a concert crowd...a couple run over local politicians. Before long the town can't help but come to the conclusion "wow, this company really doesn't give a flying F- about us. They're just using our tragedies as justification to keep doing what they would do anyway. We don't want more data centers, we don't want more AVs. We never asked for any of this. I guess we didn't NOT want AVs...but now we absolutely have to F-ing stop it because it's terrorizing us."
Annnnnnd so they start a campaign. They identify AI as an easy culprit. The townspeople don't know the first thing about AI or self driving cars, but they DO know that people will understand the message "AI is evil." The town goes to war with the company and demands the government shut down these data centers, take the cars off the streets...keep our kids safe. They start tracking the AV / kid-murder stats.
The AI company meanwhile claims the stats are inflated, the news is just over-reporting AV collisions. Also...c'mon. These are kids. Even if the company had never come to town...kids fall out of trees and die, they commit suicide because of social media, maybe they'd get hit by a regular old car with a human driver.
The townspeople only become more enraged. F- this company. The townspeople start trying to cut off the AI company's ability to operate. The government also finally starts to step in. They admit the law won't let them totally shut the company down, but they do begin clumsily regulating the
Eventually the government chips away until the AI company is hobbled and resentful. The company does still have legal protection, but it's relatively dark days and the employees (and the AV fans in town) wait anxiously on a court ruling allowing them unrestricted GPUs again. Of course, the government has already figured out 10 news ways to cut them off at the knees. They refer to the townspeople as "all these lunatic Karens" and internalize and double down on one unified conclusion: These people hate AI, AVs, our employees and everything we stand for. They wont stop until all AI and AVs are outlawed forever.
It's an easy conclusion to draw given how things escalated. But it's wrong.
Had they taken the threat the AVs introduced to the town seriously, everyone could have worked together to keep the AVs on the road and also kept the children from being murdered. There's significantly more to gain from having both. The town would have loved for the company to succeed. In the end, it's not too late to for both sides to notch a win, but holy

Take a gander at district 2 of texas from the 2021 map, its Dan Crenshaws district. To say its only "democrat" states is just funny. It has been going on a long time but to ignore the whole picture is just silly. Or even district 22.

I moved here from Texas and a simple cursory look at the district maps should dispel this belief.

I agree, and a massive cleanup of pointless political sniping would not be a bad idea (including my posts in this thread). But it points out why on-topic discussions are difficult in a gun forum, and why even a reasonable chat about the subject title requires much effort from the moderators.
