I’m not sure where this takes us except the citation is to: 18 U.S. Code § 921 - Definitions

(3) The term “firearm” means (A) any weapon (including a starter gun) which will or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive; (B) the frame or receiver of any such weapon; (C) any firearm muffler or firearm silencer; or (D) any destructive device. Such term does not include an antique firearm.

The big deal here seems to be the silencer is not an accessory, nor is it essential to the operation of the firearm. Kind of like LCMs, eh?

In my personal opinion, it has less to do with demographics, and a lot more to do with actual engagement. Look at the numbers of some of the last primaries. And then compare the population numbers, factoring for eligibility to vote, you're looking at as low as 1% of eligible voters exercising that right. Apathy has to be playing a part, because this state's uniparty supermajority, as well as their documented underhanded (if not outright illegal) tactics, have caused many, many of us to just give up. Because it seems our voices are roundly ignored, or suppressed, or disenfranchised, with no recourse.

We need to be able to change the attitudes towards civc engagement not just in our 2A community, but in the party's bases. Because too often we see the most active participants are the loudest fringe "people", who in no way, shape, or form, should be deciding the future of our cities, states, or laws. And yet here we are.

Nonsense. Turnout in primary elections is typically lower than in general elections, but the last primary was still in the 30-50% range in California. In general elections, it tends to be 60-80%. Turnout is traditionally higher among older voters, and among republican voters.

Underhanded or outright illegal? You think the results are due to vote suppression? Sorry, but that is also nonsense in California. And if by "us" you mean republican voters (seems plausible on a gun forum, where people tend to think that interest in guns is synonymous with voting R), then it is flat out wrong: turnout is higher among R. Sadly, it is true that California is now also participating in the game of gerrymandering, which seems to have become a national pastime. Sadly, it is not illegal.
