50yr old powder works just as good as brand new powder if it was stored properly.
I have powders that I bought just 10 years ago and they work as good as my 30yr old powder.
If you store it properly, I would buy enough powder to last your lifetime because it's only getting more expensive and it's price is rising faster than inflation.

When I restarted reloading a few years ago, I used powder that I had stored properly for over 20 years. I finally went through all my Win231 from back then and finally had to buy powder. The old powder worked just fine.

If you just want to pump out range ammo, consider instead getting your FFL03... you can have for example 9mm shipped to your door for 20 cents a round, no shipping, tax or 11%fee. The FFL03 all in will cost you about $125.

Some retailers offer free shipping, or have programs similar to Brownell’s Edge program. And speaking of Brownell’s, they give dealer pricing on all products for FFL03s, even though we’re not dealers — they just say the FFL is enough.

And many online retailers don’t collect out-of-state taxes. But don’t worry if you’re reading this, DOJ and/or State Franchise Tax Board, we always report such purchases at tax time so we can pay California’s “use tax” for nontaxed purchases (even though it interferes with interstate commerce in violation of the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution). Right, fellas?
