CZ Mags for TS2 Load 8 Rounds easily, 10 with a firm push. Normal?

I know I posted something similar before but I have more data. I bought an official 10-round CZ magazine for the TS2 and it loads 8 rounds easily. If I really push with the Maglula it'll suddenly give way and let me load two more rounds.

I opened up the mag and I don't see anything amiss. The metal base was inside the mag, and the baseplate was in its normal position.

I never encountered anything like this with Mec-Gar mags for the SP-01. Any ideas? Is this normal, and why does it happen?

The only difference between a regular CZ TS magazine and a limited 10-round version are those dimples on each side that protrude inward. That’s what blocks the follower from descending any further into the tube to accept more rounds.



If you drill or file out the dimples you free up the follower and will now have a 20-round magazine (or more, if you use an extended baseplate). So the 10-round version is tight because of the placement they chose for the dimples, combined with the size of the follower that comes from the factory. There’s no way around it unless you filed or drilled out the dimple on both sides . . . ahem . . . during Freedom Week. If you don’t want to do that — I mean if you didn’t do that . . . ahem . . . during Freedom Week — you could try using a shorter follower, like a Grams, etc., to free up a little more space in the 10 round zone above the dimples.

Great post, but I'm not trying to make them accept over 10 rounds.

I'm more wondering why they don't take 10 rounds easily like my Mec-Gar mags for the SP-01. Why do they seem blocked at 8 rounds yet requires a good bit of effort to break through some kind of threshold to load 10? Very strange. I should ask CZ.

As stated before, the 10-round version is tight because of the placement they chose for the dimples, combined with the size of the follower that comes from the factory. Your SP-01 Mec-Gar mags probably have a lower dimple/blocking feature and/or a shorter follower that allows for more space above the blocking feature. Why did CZ place the dimple where they did and choose the size of the follower they chose? Only CZ knows.

But for the record, I still have 9 or 10 intact 10-round CZ TS magazines that I keep for Limited 10 division, and while 10 rounds is a relatively tight fit, it’s not difficult to get there and it doesn’t cause any functional issues whatsoever.

Thanks, it's just odd how it stops at 8 unless I push really hard. My 10-round Mec-Gar mags don't do this. I'll ask CZ USA too.

--UPDATE--

I called CZ USA and they explained that the springs are progressive and have more coils on the bottom for 10-round mags, so it gets much harder at 8 rounds than one might expect. They confirmed that it's normal.
