Crazy lady assaulted my wife

At the Arden mall today a random middle aged black lady walked up to Mrs. Gawer while she was sitting down, out of NOWHERE, pulled out a pepper spray and said I will spray you and pointed it at her. She quickdrew her Sabre OC Spray I got her and said "no, I have mine" and the lady walked away.
WTF Sacramento?

Wasn't exactly a CCW moment yet but getting there, I'm still dumbfounded at what happened. Not sure what I was even supposed to do.

Thanks, me too. I’m confused on what even happened. There were other people sitting next to her and the woman just focused on her for some reason. Had a wig or weave and a bandana and just pointed the spray with no provocation for no reason.

What do you even do? Pretty sure you can’t shoot someone for pepper spray.

Also, my wife is from Colombia and is confused why someone attacked her unprovoked and I don’t have a good explanation either. Welcome to California I guess.

I am also shocked she got the spray out that fast because she has 0 practice using it pretty much.

@dvoncock what’s the attorney approved response? Can you punch them?

EDIT: So I called out the racism and OP removes the "Black" descriptor from his title, and the other racist comment was removed/deleted. To the other chud, lets not play stupid and pretend that by saying "black" we are simply describing a person and not inviting bigotry, which it DID invite and was subsequently removed. The skin color or race of this woman is completely irrelevant to this post and was not necessary in the first place.

Well pepper spray is better than a crazy sitting in a church and killing people in South Carolina or the other crazy one killing black people while they grocery shop in Buffalo. Let's not forget about the Parkland and Columbine shootings or the Michigan man who killed his wife and kids. Yes, it sucks that that happened to his wife. But if the lady was the same race as him, does he post the race of the nut? or does he post crazy lady pepper sprayed my wife. Dudes' wife at least gets to see another day. Bottom line crazy disgusting people come in all colors.

My wife is black Latina. However Latinos don’t see race and skin color like American liberals do. Totally different concept.

If accurate suspect descriptions make you think racism… then that says a lot more about that person than the person providing an accurate description of an attacker.

What is the possibility the assaulter "thought she knew your wife" for a few seconds? Maybe after your wife presented, the assaulter realized "wrong person" and withdrew. Obviously, I have no clue what you saw and perceived.

You are probably correct. I had a weird incident happen outside my home (in this case the location matters). I called local police and they came out and filed a report. I didn’t expect them to do anything and I don’t mean this in any slight on them as our local PD is awesome group of folks. However, I wanted something on file in case at a later date in case down the road an individual then broke into the home while we were there. At a mall, not same worry.

Not that many years ago, the college campus where I teach in the evenings, the campus security sent out a warning about someone robbing college students right off campus and provided description (two tall black males). A few days later they had to issue a public apology regarding race. I sent them an email saying I was sorry they had to put up with such liberal crap.
 
Yeah, that's utter nonsense: Someone's dermal pigmentation is extremely useful in identifying or ruling out possible suspects, and that is not inherently racist at all. Now, does it get abused in a racist manner? Sure, but that's another question entirely, and they should never have been forced to apologize.
 
If someone randomly pulls out pepper spray with a "I'm going to spray you" on my family unprovoked, I'm immediately shooting a blast double and telling someone to call the cops while I restrain him/her.

Happy to hear that nothing happened, but who knows how many others will get threatened and/or endangered? Not saying anyone should get into altercations if they can help it, but if you're trained and able to, you gotta protect your family.

Pretty sure she could have been arrested if cops were called.

I’m guessing it’s just another schizo walking around but sometimes it feels like they have more rights than normal people. Especially in cities like SF.
