I don't see the right out there with the Tesla Takedown protests or making wild accusations against Elon, though it was right-wingers who used to block our Supercharger stalls for a while. The Left are so fragile and easily triggered that they can't even have a conversation with someone they disagree with. The right are a much hardier bunch, and far more tolerant of diverse opinions. They were also marginalized for years so they probably grew a thicker skin.

With libs, I can't even use the word "female" without severely triggering some of them, and Reddit shows how bad it can get. They can't even figure out what a woman is or that men shouldn't be in women's sport, they can't seem to understand the hazards of "gender-affirming care" yet they know that it would be wrong to tattoo a baby. They can't seem to figure out that Hamas are a terrorist group. This is not all of them, but the idiots are so numerous that it turns a lot of people off. The women are the worst of the bunch, especially on college campuses. George Orwell warned us about this.

It's not Republicans/conservatives who keep trying to destroy our 2A rights. That comes from s, and a whole lot of hysterical women among them. Don't even get me started on female liberal judges...

I've been around for 58 years, and I spend most of those years as a liberal, even a progressive. I didn't switch to the R side because liberals/s were SO reasonable. The Left went crazy, and so I left the Left...and I'm not the only one.

These are interesting times. I have been a Centrist forever as most "controversial" issues don't speak to me or affect me enough that I would waste time and/or energy on them. I do find my Conservative friends are quieter because they have been marginalized in the past and have learned to suffer in silence. Media has shifted so that there is a lot more viewpoint diversity today but it has also lead to probably the lowest trust in traditional media in our history. A part of the reason is because media is hyper competitive in attracting viewers and viewers like having their own viewpoints confirmed. I don't find that media or the viewers nowadays care about accuracy or bias anymore.

I like Teslas. However, Elon, through DOGE, has cut some research at NIH and USDA that are hurting us now and in the near future. It's one thing to make a good car, its another thing to responsibly cut budgets for programs that have immediate downstream impact for the country.

It's an interesting dynamic isn't it? I think Marx and others t leaders advocated for the retention of arms by the common person in the revolutionary stage, but the immediate seizure of privately owned arms once the revolution had succeeded. We see similar sentiments here where the population supports disarmament when their candidates have the majority, and a trend toward personal ownership of firearms when their candidates are not in power.

Re the USDA, food recalls and complaints were up in 2025 and 2026 isn't any better. If we should spend money on anything, its probably on food safety. Yeah, I have no issue with audits. I think its fair to have accountability for what you spend. The government has never been really good at transparency and articulating what it's trying to promote with its grant funding. It was bad before DOGE and it's still bad now. Some of the DOGE changes are just arbitrary like the 15% indirect cost cap across all grants. I think that cap was killed in court recently but I could be wrong.

That's a tough situation. My wife has her CCW and carries every day. Someone does that to her, and it puts her in the position of having to choose whether or not to deploy deadly force in the face of a (probably) non-deadly attack. That's an ugly decision tree to have to climb.
