CCW Contra Costa County

Wtf is a modification permit 😂
It’s basically completing the application again on Permitium - without having to do the livescan and everything else.

Additionally, you have to download and complete another form and attach it to the Permitium application listing the firearms you’re adding and/or removing.

You’ll have to pickup a new permit with the new firearms listed.

You have to list and requalify with all of your pistols again if doing firearm modification.

Then there’s a new page after you fill out the initial form which has you lists which guns you’re adding a light and/or optic to.

The modification fee is $35.

Color me intrigued. I wonder if the new cards will have a “red dot qualified” designation
Yeah but again how would it even be enforced? It’s not like you’re getting your gun inspected randomly. And if somehow you are getting strip searched they’ll see the serials match and that’s that

Modifications to triggers, safety mechanisms, conversions, and magazine releases outside of factory configurations are not approved.

The firearm must have been commercially manufactured and of sufficient quality to safely fire. A member of the Firearm Instructor Team will conduct a safety inspection of the firearm. The Firearm Instructor will consider issues such as (to include but not limited to) missing and/or broken parts or incorrect installation of sighting systems.

Further modifications, attachments, or additions to firearms after issuance of a permit may result in revocation.

These are the terms that all CCC CCW holders agreed to.

Sure but a street cop isn’t looking at or caring about any of that. The three times I’ve been stopped they didn’t even look at my gun and two of the three they didn’t even look at my CCW license. At most they’ll run the serial of the gun. It’s not like the license says anything about red dots

You don’t know that. You should also probably stop speeding 😂

lol I’ve only been pulled over for speeding once in like the last 7 years. The other two were nosy Karen’s calling the cops on me.

I don’t know what? The average cop barely cares about that especially since most people that sign up to be cops aren’t super liberal and they have better things to do. Unless they just don’t like you and want to go on a fishing expedition.

And again the CCW card only lists make model and serial. That’s it.

Fair. Either way I would not automatically assume you’ll get the benefit of the doubt in a LE encounter.
Sure but how else would it play out? They’re gonna go by what the card says and the penal code

I don’t know, I’m not sure how they’re instructed to handle interactions with CCW holders that appear to be in violation of the terms of the CCW permit.

Of course this likely does not apply to any LE encounters outside of CCC.

For now, I don’t think anyone in CCC is “legally” carrying a gun with a dot/WML so those are immediate visual indications to any CCCSD who sees your carry gun that you’re in violation of the terms. At that point what happens next is out of your control.

At best they could revoke your permit, you are still legally carrying they can't revoke it post facto and say you were commiting a felony because you had a flashlight on your gun. It's WILD that they are doing testing on your F-ing flashlight though what an absolute waste of everyone's time and money

Correct and dealing with a revoked permit is a big PITA
