CCW Renewal - Which 3 to include out of these 5?

Looking for collective wisdom here. It's time for me to renew my CCW, and I'm limited to 3. Changing after renewal is supposed to be possible but difficult and may take a while, so I'm expecting these to be my only options for the next 2 years. I've narrowed my choices down to these 5, but am having trouble excluding 2. I'm thinking I should keep 1 "larger" compact, 1 "middle" and 1 "micro"...to maximize utility:


1) Walther P99 AS
Pros: Points incredibly naturally for me. 16+1 capacity flush with old SW99 mags. Had the most range time generally and from concealment.
Cons: Decocker location means can't mill for optic. Walther has stopped supporting, so repair parts are getting harder to come by.

2) CZ P-07
Pros: Can mill for optic. Points easily for me. 15+1 capacity flush. Traditional DA/SA hammer allows for manipulation as needed (probably not a big deal in a defensive scenario).
Cons: Serves same function as P99, but with less range time and somewhat less capacity. Doesn't conceal as easily as P99 for me.

3) S&W M&P 2.0 Compact 4" - Optics Ready
Pros: Carries smaller than the P99 and P07 (shorter and thinner grip), but with 15+1 capacity flush. Optics Ready.
Cons: Least range time of 1-3. Grip is not as natural to me as 1 and 2 (possibly due to the less range time). Not DA/SA, which I have trained most on from concealment.

4) IWI Masada Slim - Optics Ready
Pros: Points easily for me. Optics Ready. Smaller overall package than the M&P (shorter slide, thinner grip). Fits my old CZ75 mags (although not flush) so in theory, I could carry 10+1 with a spare 17 rounder.
Cons: 10+1 capacity, no freedom week mags due to release date. Grip length same as M&P, but 5 fewer rounds. Least range time of all so far. Aftermarket support is the least of all choices.

5) S&W Shield Plus - Optics Ready
Pros: Smallest overall package. Can swap slides as needed between my 3.1" Shield Plus slide and my 3.6" Shield X slide.
Cons: 10+1 capacity, no freedom week mags due to release date.

Which 3 would you choose? Any pros/cons I missed?

If any feel uncomfortable at all not sure you’d want those ones listed, I’d aim for the ones I’m most comfortable with.

My EDC top #3, is not in your lineup. My choices are GLOCK 43x, Sig Sauer P365 X Macro Comp and Glock 19 Gen 5.

I’m going to pick your 3, 4, 5. No 5 is small. I like small in a CCW because it makes it easy to carry. My small one is P365. I don’t have any experience with any of yours so I can’t compare how small your No 5 is relative to a P365. I picked No 4 because you say it easily points and having a 17 rounder spare is a nice to have. Then I picked your No 3 choice because you it was smaller than your No 1 & 2 options.

I chose a small (P365), medium G19, and large G21. The small is because it slips into my pocket with a DeSantis Nemesis holster and I do it first thing in the am. The G21 is for when I take long road trips and acts as a bedside gun; plus I like .45 ACP. The G19 because I’ve shot it a ton and am very comfortable with it. Before the P365, I considered it the perfect 9 mm size and capacity.

Thanks. This is the most practical approach for sure. To be fair, I’m not uncomfortable with any, but the most comfortable are P99, P07, and Masada Slim.

For context, #3 is almost a perfect match to your G19 in size. #1 and #2 are about a quarter inch longer in the grip than a G19, but also a quarter inch shorter than a G21. If I did #3, #4, and #5, all three would be between your medium and small options. (My #5 is about a quarter inch taller and longer than your P365).

Not sure if that changes your answer.

Because... California...?

I've never carried in other states, but I DO have AZ and UT permits and yes neither have anything listed. So I assume in those areas covered by those licenses, I can carry whatever.

• Easier for LE to validate during a stop
• Ensures the permit holder has demonstrated proficiency with the exact mechanical platform
• Can be easily cross-checked against stolen firearms database

As much as many of these laws are onerous and annoying, to suggest they are literally created to be a nuisance is a bit absurd.
