Someone cuts the security cable or some how removes it to break in later you have an AirTag in it to track it temporarily.

I always have an AirTag somewhere in all my cases/bags. Even my larger at homes safes have AirTags.

Yeah I keep 2 AirTags hidden under trim panels in my car, very hard to get to if a thief ever tries to steal it and ping the AirTag to remove it. Good idea to put them in the safe; I would put it under the foam and super glue the foam around it to the shell of the safe so it doesn’t rattle around or slip out easily

I rigged one of these for under my rear seat post in my Trailboss. I wasn’t comfortable with the cable and this Definitely prevents the quick take.
I also have a in center console combo locking safe for the quick unloading when I’m going to be quick in and out but can’t carry in the establishment but they’re checking

I really like this idea… I don’t trust the little cable it comes with at all.

My Audi has a perfect compartment in the dash by the steering wheel but I can’t seem to find any lock boxes that will fit. The smallest one I could find is JUST a tiny bit too wide to slide in. I will Venmo someone $100 if they can point me to a lockbox that will fit in this thing… it’s approx 7” wide and 3” tall but shrinks to more like 6.5-6.25” towards the back. I would be ecstatic if I could find something that fits, even more so if it’s biometric or combo lock instead of a key lock. Oh and must be on the DOJ roster for loaded CCW storage. I’ve bought 4 different boxes thinking they’d fit based on the dimensions and they never do

My truck has some compartments behind and under back seats. Sometimes I feel its safer to hide them than to use the cable lock box tied under seat rails since the cable looks so cheap. Has anyone ever upgraded to a better cable or are they all easy to cut?

I can’t imagine there’s any cable that will fit a lock box that you can’t cut easily with a handheld battery operated angle grinder. Hell they can cut right through any of the lock boxes the cable is attached to. It’s just a deterrent, if someone has the right tool they will be taking your gun. A good hiding place is probably more effective honestly (I feel the same about home storage… a good hidden compartment under a table or in a bookshelf is likely safer than a “DOJ certified” gun cabinet.

Gun cabinets are more for keeping kids out imo. I dont have much stuff but I use a cabinet since I dont have room nor want to add a safe upstairs

Yes absolutely, I have a cabinet because I mainly want to keep out kids or other unauthorized guests, remain compliant with the law, and deter casual burglars (the worst I anticipate in my neighborhood is a drunk opportunistic homeless person who might come in if my fiancé leaves the door unlocked or MAYBE break in through a window if we’re gone). I can’t imagine a dedicated/sophisticated burglar targeting my house, and if they do then even a decent safe won’t stop them. I think a gun cabinet plus alarm system is reasonable… deterring someone by 5 min is enough to make them think twice about trying to access it with an alarm blaring.

I do enough work with metal to know how easy it is to cut through with basic handheld tools and I’m not about to spend $30k on a safe that will stop that when insurance for my firearms is $150 a year (not to mention having the room for a legit safe). Maybe when I’m fabulously wealthy and have a hidden basement man cave with a 5 car garage for my race cars I’ll splurge on a fancy built-in 3” thick steel safe, but it’s just not in the cards at the moment.

I use LifePod 2.0 It's not ideal, but I'm hoping it would stop a smash and grab window break-in. The cable is looped to the underside of the passenger seat. I unload from holster sitting in the car and place in LifePod then under passenger seat. Again not ideal but to be honest I rarely go into places that you "can't carry".

For sure it’ll help for that purpose. I ordered one for free with the sig rebate, helps me since I go to court and other places
