Carry etiquette for Angeles National Forest

I’ve done some hunting in Mojave and the desert. It was rural enough to avoid other people.

If I was to hunt in D11, in Angeles National Forest, what’s the legality of parking my car at a turnout and open carrying my rifle/shotgun and/or pistol while hiking to my hunting spots?

Don't forget that forest adventure pass or your vehicle will get a ticket. I got one off an obscure dirt jeep trail. Nothing around for miles. I never saw the ranger or his truck.

I’ve gotten those before. There’s no consequence for not paying

You only need an adventure pass where there are facilities built. Bathrooms, picnic benches, etc.

Right on. Specifically, you only need the pass if you use those facilities. Just sit on your tailgate while eating your cookies and pee on a tree and you'll be fine. The exception is in high impact zones that provide these six amenities: designated parking, a permanent toilet, a trash receptacle, an interpretive sign, picnic tables, and security services. Also, you don't need a pass if you are engaged in in religious activities, protesting, or are a Native American doing Native American things.

Is the turnout on national forest as well? If so, just grab your gun and walk to your spot. If anyone confronts you, politely inform them you are hunting. If they press the issue politely inform them hunter harrasment is illegal and offer to call LEO for them if the don't stop.
