Seems to be too new for there to be a youtube video.
If you want to bring it over, I can strip it down and figure out how it works and how to remove the disconnect and then make a video for everyone else trying to figure this out.

it's really easy to remove it. Take it all apart and you will see that the magazine disconnect pivots on a small pin. Remove that pin. You should end up with the mag disconnect, the pin and a small spring.

S2K ON 2 Thanks for your info. I bought my California MC9 from Sportsman's Warehouse in Sacramento. It has trouble fully going back into battery after a round has been shot. I've tried many things to correct this issue. I wonder if removing the mag disconnect will help?

@donutgut Besides polishing the feed ramp, watch this video, starting at 4:55. I made sure the frame and rails were flush. I did have to smooth down a little bit of the frame.
I've shot about 500 rounds through mine after some TLC, and have had zero issues.

I almost bought this gun, but I had seen this return to battery issue popping up too many times to make me back off. Too bad too, the trigger feels very nice and the gun overall seems solid.

That problem has nothing to do with the mag disconnect as the magazine holds the disconnect inside that sear block and has no comtact with the slide.
A slide failing to lock fully is either related to a tight fit problem or imbalance between ammo and recoil spring or a chamber throat issue with lead bullets running oversized.
The Canik appears to suffer a recoil spring problem and will send out an alternative recoil spring if you have the problem and contact customer service.

I know the early models had these issues and the newer free state models seem to be working pretty good. I know mine does.
But seems the problem is back with the ca models and only thing I know different is the mag disconnect. Not sure if related but seems odd the ca models have this issue too.
I did hear that the early models cleaning up feed ramp also helped and that the newer models they made a change on the feed ramp. Another that solved the issue from reading was swapping to the threaded barrel but I know that’s not an option in ca. I’ve had mine for 1.5 years and have not had one hiccup with it. I do know the damn sliders heavy to rack though. I have shot 115-146 grain ammo all shot well. I should take pics of feedramp when I get home to see if it’s different.
I bought the CA version back in August and haven’t had any problems…. And thanks for posting the disconnect video

Reach out to Canik and they will send you a new recoil spring. Original was best suited for Nato 124 gr. Since most shoot 115 gr here, the new recoil spring helps to eliminate those issues.

I have the mc9 and people are correct, reach out to Canik and they will send you an 18lb spring which will help especially during break-in. The issue for mine turned out to be the extractor spring being too stiff but i went ahead and did all i could to mitigate it, filed down the frame in some areas, softened the extractor spring, polished the feed ramp, and replaced the recoil spring to the heavier one. Made it a bit harder to rack but not terrible especially with an optic. Haven't had any major issues since.
