Can’t fit replacement 507k onto shield

Any idea for a fix? The Shield had a 507k x2 fitted with this direct mount mill. Then the optic died and Holosun warrantied it and sent me a new one. But despite being the same optic, it doesn’t want to go on? The little tubes seem to line up for the holes and I can even get the screws started. But it’s like it’s just barely barely too tight and the tube doesn’t want to go through.

Any ideas? Thanks

I've seen sights fit snug to the slide.

I.... Maybe I shouldn't admit this in a public forum. But I wound up giving gentle taps with the plastic side of a gunsmiths hammer, and it went right in.

If that doesn't appeal, or the fit is just that tight, you might try filing away material on either the sight or the slide. One generally removes material from the cheapest part, not sure how that math works out in this case.

Hoping some (very gentle) taps with the hammer or a screwdriver handle fixes it.

If you have a roll pin set, grab the mallet and lightly tap the top of the optic with the rubber side. It'll go in.

You'll actually see this issue a lot with rmsc and k cut dots for some reason. Likely a tolerance issue. Even the optics ready S&W slides are like this from the factory.

Bro I literally just bought my first one a few weeks ago haha perfect idea

was it a custom cut or the OEM one from S&W? If it's a custom cut they are often so tight that even the same model optic won't fit. If it's OEM.make sure it's actually Holosun K cut and not rmsc

It's aftermarket, I bought it this way from a deputy friend, $550 with all the goods. Kinda cool that it's perfect fit like that but now it's being a hassle lol

Dang, yeah I would just try to see where it's hitting and see if you can take off material where it won't show. I had this exact thing happen.

Yeah ok I literally did the meme and it worked. Didn’t remove any material.

But I mean I probably hit it over a 100 times inching it down haha. Started to hit a little harder than I wanted to but it worked perfectly. Thanks for the great tip

Hopefully you used some kind of padding like a towel and didn't bang on it directly. Good way to mar the finish even with a softer hammer tip.

Glad you got it sorted, at least you won't have to worry as much about the screws shearing off! lol

It still looks brand new due to the rubber, I didn't hit it that hard

Yeah I'm pretty sure even if I didn't put it in the screws it would stay on. it's insanely tight to the posts

Thought the optic was broken, nope, just Holosun sent it to me with a dead battery

Which trigger is better, APEX on 1.0 or the Shield Plus OEM? I always get blown away by how crisp and short reset the APEX trigger is lol and some tiny random gun
The apex is better, it's not just a shoe it also changes the sear and springs. But apex hates us now and even though you can probably find an apex trigger they won't even send warranty parts to us. I had an overwatch on my shield plus and it was definitely a nice upgrade, it's a "duty" weight so not super light but definitely lighter and smoother.
