Biological Warfare

We just went through one called COVID. But you can make the argument that anything created in a lab to cause irritation, disease, or infection to be considered a bio weapon.

Thank you for the recommendation, I have added that to my list. There about 10 books ahead of it, but I will get to it this year for sure. I actually read a chapter a day, sometimes more but at least one a day.

It's a really comprehensive analysis of the current state of risk regarding real BSL 4 labs that have amassed bioweapons, detailed description of those bioweapons and how bad they really are, and a detailed breakdown of all of the surveillance and response systems in the US.

As I understand it it's sort of required reading on capital hill right now. It's currently considered the most comprehensive analysis of the state of risk of biological disaster.
Was that an AI analysis?

Was that an AI analysis?

No I'm just autistic and that's how I talk.

This is the AI summary:

Annie Jacobsen’s Biological War: A Scenario explores how a deliberately engineered pathogen could spread globally before authorities even realize an attack has occurred, overwhelming hospitals, disrupting supply chains, destabilizing governments, and potentially causing civilization-scale damage. Drawing on the history of biological weapons, biodefense, intelligence, and pandemic preparedness, Jacobsen argues that biological warfare may be uniquely dangerous because pathogens can reproduce, spread invisibly, and be difficult to attribute to an attacker. The book’s central warning is that advances in biotechnology are making catastrophic biological threats increasingly feasible while our ability to detect, contain, and respond to them may not be keeping pace.

100% correct. Crazy to think about in retrospect

I think there's a decent amount of reasonable speculation still about the Origins of Sars-Cov2 but the people confidently ruling out a lab leak and people presuming with 100% confidence it was a lab leak without real evidence thing are about as confidence inspiring as the government waiting until about 15 months into the pandemic and some 3 million estimated people dead globally before admitting it was airborne and then again that it wasn't fomite spread, or that this was a primary method of passing it on.

We'll spend another decade continuing to pretend that it doesn't cause significant immune dysregulation in about 1/3 of the people that get it even though the evidence is about as consistent as anyone could possibly hope.

If we learned anything from Covid it's that a virus or bacteria with a high case fatality rate is going to absolutely shred our government regardless of the hundreds of billions we agree to spend on preparing for this stuff.

Check out this podcast from 2017 it almost predicts the Covid outbreak perfectly: End of the World with Josh Clark

I don't know what it means either. He is using pure psychological warfare
will ferrell idk GIF

What do you like about it? I'm always on the lookout for good non-fiction audiobooks.
“Say Nothing” about the civil war in Northern Ireland is great.

If you want a more quick and easy summer vacation type non fiction book then I recommend “My Friend the Mercenary” or “My War Gone By I Miss it so”.

If you want an excellent and large nonfiction book that will last forever try Bernard Bailyn’s “The Barbarous Years” about what North America was like in the 1600’s.

Unless you just wanted to test the worlds reaction time, cover ups, misinformation, panic, erode government trust, etc without releasing a high mortality rate biological weapon that would turn the world against you…for now.
