Bianco vs Hilton | Who’s more pro 2A?

I have an illegal alien driver's license here in California.
There is no such thing. There is Real ID, and the non-Real ID.

I'm keeping it because I like the benefits California provides.
A driver's license, in and of itself, does not provide any benefits. In particular the non-Real ID does not provide any extra benefits. They both demonstrate that the holder is allowed to drive.

I don't care for our sloppy motor voter registration here that doesn't require proof of US citizenship.
Which does not imply that non-citizens are added to the voters rolls from their driver's license. It is not sloppy, on the contrary. The number of non-citizens on the voter rolls is tiny.

hence the massive fraud we have in California, like auto repair shops operating from a second floor office building. Must be hard getting your car up there for service.
While such a case may exist, and I'm sure the right-wing press uses it to demonstrate many silly things, it has nothing to do with the price of tea in China.

Democrats in congress are blocking any reform because they claim "brown" people can't get ID's easily here. That claim says they are incapable of getting a valid ID here.
No. They say that it will make voting more difficult, and therefore reduce voter participation and turnout, and that the socio-economically disadvantaged and minorities will be hit especially hard. One thing you have to recognize is that this will affect republicans more than democrats, as the MAGA wing of the Republican Party has recently (last ~10-15 years) become the political home of that class.

Ask any brown person on the street if they have an ID. You will find everyone has one, including illegal aliens. It may not be a legit US ID but they have one from whence they came.
Ultimately, that's what it comes down to from the republican side: Their statement is "we don't like brown people", and we're willing to justify that feeling with any made up "facts".

I accepted that as long as I choose to live in CA, the 2A will always have to be a secondary right unfortunately. It's the unfair compromise that we have to make to be here. It shouldn't be that way, but it's our reality.

As long as the 2A remains a political tool, as long as the Democratic party remains against it, and so long as the Democrats maintain their hold on the supermajority in CA, nothing can be done. Even a Republican governor can't do much with the supermajority able to override everything.

Even if we get favorable rulings from SCOTUS, CA will just create new laws to keep restricting our rights.

I respect everyone's right to vote however they wish, for whatever reasons they want, but I'm under no disillusionment that we will ever get to exercise the 2A to the same level as other states, or that people will be willing to do what it takes to make our situation better. CA will remain a Democratic supermajority and the relentless gun control will not let up.
Never accept restrictions on or loss of rights.

Never accept restrictions on or loss of rights.
I agree with you in principle, but I'm also not disillusioned about the impossible uphill battle we have. Don't get me wrong, I still advocate for our rights every chance I get and however I can, I just don't get upset or surprised when further infringements keep happening.

What I meant by my original comment was that I stopped being upset about the climate that we live in since there's realistically little I can do as an individual to change the stance of most of the state, I already do what I can to the greatest extent, and whatever else happens I can be satisfied that I tried.

The fact is that if the 2A truly mattered the most to me I could just move to Texas but it's a compromise I'm not willing to make, so I choose to stay here willingly and that means also accepting the negatives that come with it.

I still hate what the state is doing to our rights, but I try not to let it live rent free in my head and affect my happiness in my everyday life.

My drivers license was obtained before real ID came about. Back then proof of citizenship was not required for a license here in California. Real ID came about because of too many unchecked illegal aliens were rewarded California drivers licenses. Real ID was created because states without illegal alien driver's licenses demanded it and the feds didn't want unchecked people getting on airplanes. Congress responded by creating the real ID. Now the rash of illegal alien commercial trucker crashes has exposed another California racket. That has proven to be a public safety threat.

As to benefits, illegal aliens (the term used in US code) are rewarded several here including welfare and other state programs including in state tuition for college. That saves several thousand dollars a year over foreign tuition rates. No other state offers the bennies to illegal aliens California does.

There is no way to determine how many illegals lied on the motor voter forms to register to vote. Without any form of confirmation no one knows. It's certainly more than a few. It's inexcusable not to check as it's also a crime for a non citizen to register to vote.

Voting is not difficult in the US. However, the congressional democrats have yet to explain why poor and minority people are too "disadvantaged" (read stupid) to get a real ID or show ID to vote. They already have ID. BTW, Caucasian people here are also a minority in California.

So far the excuse to not have voter ID is so cheating is easier, not harder. If anyone is to have faith in our election system that conundrum needs to be resolved. Other countries know why they initiated ID voting, because they also had cheating. Even a little is too much. Seen any close elections recently?

Every European country has ID voting. Are all of them wrong or "racist"? Or are they solving a critical problem, restoring confidence in their elections?

Other countries have voter ID. I'm still searching for the reasons we don't here. Can anyone explain why that is so?
We do have a system that verifies identification, it occurs when you register. If a non citizen registers they don't get verified and can't vote. It's designed to increase voter turnout because Americans don't vote. If voter id laws promise a smooth transition with multiple ways to prove identity I don't see a problem with it.

dude they check citizenship when you register to vote, it's not just based on having a drivers license. You really think they didn't think of that?

I showed my birth certificate to the DMV back in 1968 when I got my first license. It has been renewed on time ever since. We also didn't have an illegal alien problem and no jihadies either.

The DMV does not require showing a birth certificate for the motor voter form. You check a box that says you are a citizen. No background check is performed.

The registar does check the signature on the ballot but that's it.

It still is not. Real IDs are issued to non-citizens too.

Real ID was created because states without illegal alien driver's licenses demanded it and the feds didn't want unchecked people getting on airplanes.
Real ID was created by the federal government, as a reaction to 9/11. Not due to pressure from the states. It was an anti-terrorism measure. Note that the 9/11 terrorists had all entered the US legally, although a few had overstayed their tourist visa.

You don't seem to understand that a non-citizen of the US, even one who is in the US legally, can be a resident of a state. And as such may be entitled to resident tuition.

The form of confirmation is that the registrars of voters check all voter registration (including motor voter) against databases provided by immigration and customs. Simply lying on the driver's license form that you are a US citizen will hardly ever lead to being registered as a voter.

However, the congressional democrats have yet to explain why poor and minority people are too "disadvantaged" (read stupid) to get a real ID or show ID to vote. They already have ID.
Well, the congressional republicans should try to explain the same thing, just illuminated from the opposite side. Again, they fail to provide any evidence. But in reality, there are oodles of studies out there. One big factor is lack of access to computers. Another factor is lack of leisure to visit various government offices in person to get copies of for example birth or marriage certificates.

If anyone is to have faith in our election system that conundrum needs to be resolved.
It turns out that many people have faith in the election system. It's typically those who lose the election (or are in imminent danger of losing) who suddenly claim that elections are rigged.

Other countries know why they initiated ID voting, ...
Every European country has ID voting. Are all of them wrong or "racist"?
As I explained before, they also have very different bureaucratic systems. In European and South American countries you can de facto not participate in civil life without lots of paperwork. As I said above, in Germany having a valid ID card is required by law, and you will be fined if you don't have one, jailed if you refuse to get one. In Brasil, nearly any commercial interaction other than simple shopping requires providing the CPF (their equivalent of our SSN). That kind of overbearing bureaucracy would never fly in the freedom-loving US. The US lacks both the unified bureaucratic framework given by a strong federal government, and the mindset of the population to do this.

And while racism exists in many places, you are aware that a gentleman of Turkish origin just won the election to be prime minister of a German state? I'm 100% sure he has a "personalausweis" (ID card).

The registar does check the signature on the ballot but that's it.
You should volunteer at the registrar sometime. It would be an eye opening experience for you. They check a whole lot of other stuff. Having being a campaign volunteer, treasurer and chair, I've had the opportunity to work pretty closely with the registrars (even on making sure only the right people are on the voter roll), and it is way more complex than you think.

there literally is a check behind the scenes, they validate the registers using several databases, social security is one if you provided a SS number during registration, the Department of Homeland Security SAVE database is the bigger one. Do you just not care about reality? I don't get where you get these ideas, I guess just watching TV?

Interesting. So the letter by their name is more important than what they stand for, believe in, and will try to change?

That's a helluva way to live.
It’s TDS “if aligned with maga” go the opposite direction. I don’t understand, it’s the old cut off my nose to spite my face situation

On Wednesday, Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies released a poll showing Hilton leading California voter preferences at 17 percent. Another Republican, Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco, follows at 16 percent. Both Republicans are ahead of the two top Democratic names, Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., and former Rep. Katie Porter, who are each at 13 percent.

the poll had 2 Republicans and 8 Democrats though, if you count up the percentages the Rs are at 34% and the Ds at 50%
