Best Fanny Pack for Concealed Carry?

So what if others may figure out. Black bags were popular with off duty cops 30 years ago. Seeing a bag and a shaved head screamed cop, so what. Carry the way you want. Bags are the most comfortable and easy.
 
I have always been skeptical of fanny packs and any off-body carry, but one application where it seems ideal is in the car. I could see keeping it in your lap while driving. When you get to one of the many places in CA where carry is prohibited, you put your fanny pack in the trunck, pretty discreet.

If you don't do off body carry, how do you deal with driving? Most solutions around the waist pose difficulties. WIth AIWB, for instnace (i) I would think it would be really hard to draw quickly, (ii) the barrel is pointing at lots of places I don't want to get shot, and femoral artery is not necessisary tops on that list, and (iii) got to be super uncomfortabe.

The downside to carrying in fanny pack in your lap while driving might be, "how to transition discreetly to some other carry method when you get to a destination where you can carry?"

I typically only use a fannypack for CC when running (exercise) and wanting to carry. I recommend something like this Elite Survival Systems fanny pack. It has little waterbottles that I keep empty to make the setup less suspicious. The backside has good grip so it doesn't move around.

This is probably the slowest way to draw. You won’t get an answer to this question because I don’t think most folks who own guns even are interested in what a shot timer is useful for.

I saw Lena Miculek advertising a Fanny pack where you stick your hand in a side opening and quickly draw it out. That makes sense. Unzipping, fishing around, racking a round , re establishing grip…very slow. If ideal par time for draw to accurate shot on target is 1.5-2 seconds , a regular fanny pack won’t get you there.

In a close quarters situation where you are leveraging someone away from you and have to draw with one hand , you will be in trouble with a fanny or without one in the chamber. Same for shooting from pectoral index. I took a class with a couple of guys who Israeli carry and they got jammed up on some close quarter drills.

Or you just shoot through your pack.

Fishing around? Rule # 1 of carry style: the firearm is the only object to occupy the carry compartment. Pocket carry purse carry backpack carry doesn’t mater. Could you imaging the disastrous consequences of a firearm interactions with a paper clip, a slim Jim, keys or even a tick tack? I refuse to employ any method of carry which does not full containment of the trigger area.
 
The Richmond Rod and Gun Club used to have CCW matches with scenarios . They were mostly fun matches but they were a great place to put your EDC set up to the test. Some mag pouches , holsters and pistols turned out to not work so well. A fanny pack probably wouldn’t be allowed because you are flagging everyone alongside you, but it would be interesting to see how someone would do using a fanny under stress. There was one where you were sitting at a table, another in a mock car, another at a supermarket.
 
Do any of these fanny packs come with a kydex holster built in to protect the trigger? Or do you have to purchased one and if so which ones are the best and do they some how get tied into the fanny pack so it doesn't come out with the firearm when you want to draw?
