Best EDC for CCW

I have the initial size P365. With the mag that has the pinky extension on it, I get a perfect hand fit. It is very soft shooting for its size. What I really like about it is the size. I put it in a DeSantis Nemsis holster (might switch to the Super Fly one as more sticky in pocket) and then it slips into my front pocket. As such, it gets carried. The other two on my CCW are bigger pistols for certain reasons. The one I absolutely carry is the P365. Not sure what others on your list are that same size but I’;d want to find one at this size for sure.

A side note, based on a book I read 20ish years ago called Paradox of Choice, I purposely put artificial limits on my options. It really reduces my stress and brain power on many things. For example, if I want a rifle scope, it is the Leupold brand. For vehicles it is either Toyota or Ford. No idea if these are the best one out there but I know it is a good option and all I am looking for is a good option. The best option is a myth that will drive you crazy and lead you to be very frustrated. For pistols, 15ish years ago I decided the only two brands I wanted to own in pistols are Glock and Sig. As such, when it came time to decide what my options are, that is all I considered. Yes, it leaves out a lot of potential options but for me that is a good thing. I don’t need to think as hard about my options and stress about it. The book I mentioned above digs into all of the science about how more options rather than less makes us less happiy. I’ve artifially limited all kinds of options on choices because of this and have been more happy ever since.

Speaking of vehicles and limiting choice, I only drive EVs now and the only brand I drive is Tesla. What you're talking about is a phenomenon called choice paralysis, or paralysis by analysis. I do like researching so I don't mind the comparison phase.

I love my CZs but have also tried other brands; Atlas, Stealth Arms (Platypus), Ruger (22-45), and I've shot a whole lot of guns at this point. It's only reinforced my favorites, but I have a Staccato coming I will probably love too.

All makes sense to me. I know a bunch of folks who have Tesla’s and love them. Same with CZs.

I’ve been driving myself crazy trying to find the best EDC.

I would prefer to have a hammer fired pistol but in the end I just want something that shoots flat.
I’m thinking the Echelon 4.0 Comp might come out on top but would it be comfortable to carry every day.

I have a modded 2.0 for sale. Shoots real nice, but also, the shieldX is about to come out, just complicate things more.

I carry a 43x with a ramjet/afterburner, shoots real flat. I know your struggle! I was in that stage of searching before as well lol

Hope you aren't into the S or X given that they decided to abandon those >$100K platforms in favor of robots.

I have the 2024 Model 3 Performance, and though I haven't verified this claim, I wouldn't be worried even if I had a Model S or X. Those models don't sell nearly as well as the 3 and Y anyway.

You may be overthinking it. The best EDC is the one you can actually carry and, God forbid you ever need it, use to deliver accurate, neutralizing hits in the least amount of time. That said, I’d suggest picking a solid defensive standard or drill, then running each of those handguns through it and seeing how you perform. Score the results in a simple matrix if you want to make the comparison more objective.

For me, I carry a Glock 26 Monday through Friday when I’m in business casual, and a Glock 19 otherwise. These are what I am most proficient.

I prefer ‘carry the smallest pistol I can shoot adequately.’ The chances of needing it are slim, at least for my lifestyle, but carry comfort impacts me every day.
