Best Desiccant Silica rechargeable canister for safe?

Personally, if you can run power into your safe, I’d suggest using a golden rod. They’ve been working well for me for years and I don’t need to worry about recharging.

100% in agreement on this one. I've been running the golden rods for over 20 years without an issue.

The cans didn't work for me. That being said, if I couldn't run a plug in I'd try one of the Eva-Dry Wireless Mini Dehumidifier.

I recently moved and mounted the safes against the walls so I have covered the AC plugs on the back. I don't really want to have to unmount and remount the safes. I've had pretty good luck with the rechargeable packs and was wondering if they had better ones out these days.

The eva dries work great. Family member recommended them to me since he lives near the coast and his place is always humid. 2 small ones for 30 bucks and i stagger them so one refreshes. My garage was flooded a few times from these past crazy rain years and no rust issues on anything.

do you mind me asking what the advantage of that is opposed to a dehumidifier in the safe?
 
I use and recommend EvaDry 333 inside safes. Supposedly that one absorbs humidity quicker than their 500 model. I use the 500 outside the safes

No advantage, I use them because my safes are lagged to the ground (both concrete) and flush up against the walls so I cannot get to the AC power plugs that are on the back of them. If I had access to the plugs, I'd for sure get a powered dehumidifier.

I've been using the canisters forever and they seem to work fine as long as you recharge them every couple to few months.

Another vote for the Eva-drys. I set a calendar reminder for the 1st of each month to check the color on them and charge/dry as needed. Keep one in the safe and another one in each of the HDX tubs my ammo is stored in.
 
Golden rod is fine, but it's predicated on causing air to circulate and since California is relatively dry, you're moving dry air. If for some reason humidity was introduced into the safe, it's supposed to get the humid air to push out. But if it's also humid outside, then you're basically going to have humid air circulating in and humidity isn't going to get reduced.

Thus, run dessicant in the safe as well as the Golden Rod.

Most of all, have a hygrometer inside and outside the safe so you can monitor the environmentals.
 
I don't know if these Eva-Dry units work extra good or what's going on.

It's only been a couple weeks and they are dark in the same environment my 20 year old canisters were in that lasted months before needing to be recharged.

Maybe it's a case of they just don't make them like they used too. I guess it's a good thing that they are working but recharging every couple weeks seems excessive.

Just my $0.02 after using them. I will continue to use them till I can get power to the safes which I think I'm going to have to do eventually.
