Bench Vise Needed for Lyman Sight Pusher?

Can you remove the optic plate?

The optic plate is inserted into a groove where the rear sight would go, but it's wide AF. I guess I have to drift it out with a punch and hammer? One would think there would be an adaptor for such things!

Don’t use a punch unless you have a LOT of experience using them.

And another brand of pusher may work. Try that first. You could take just the slide to the store to check the various pushers they have.

I was able to directly hammer if halfway off with a large deadblow hammer, but once the plate was flush with the slide there wasn't a good way to push it farther. I'll see if my local shop has better pushers, or I can get a local gunsmith to remove it. Thanks!

Tried that tool on a Hellcat... bent the tool, front site never moved.

MGW makes pretty much the best sight pushers out there. You would have to try really hard to break it. They aren't cheap, but buy once cry once. You can often times find them used on the forums or eBay.

I have and use MGW sight pro and rangemaster sight pushers.
These are about the best sight pushers you can get and they are what your lyman is made to LOOK like, but the lyman does not function like an MGW of course as the Lyman is missing the most important features.
One of the features is changeable pusher blades.
I have 4 different pusher blades and the blades are simple so you can make a custom one if needed, though I have never run into a job I could not do with the MGW pusher blades.

You're absolutely right. I'm returning the Lyman and getting the MGW if MGW confirms that they make a shoe for the CZ TS2. I don't see it listed.

If the shoe fits it'll be a no-brainer.

I think the TS2 would use the regular cz-75 shoe for the bottom of the slide.
The MGW one-leg pusher blade is exactly what I use for pushing optic adapter plates out of slides.

The pusher blades are just a mild steel block with a round hole and then whatever pusher blade shape you want on the bottom of the block.
The pusher blades are captured on the push-rod in such a way that you do not need to thread the pusher blade if you make your own.
The pusher rod moves back and forth within the tool so there are no need for threads inside the pusher blades.

Most of the clone tools use a fixed push rod and threaded pusher blades.

Wait until you see how big/heavy/solid it is.
The clones are all a joke in how sloppy they are.
You actually get what you pay for in an MGW sightpro or rangemaster.
The sightpro is longer which is most useful for 1911's and other pistols with a long section under the slide forward of where the slide rails end.
The rangemaster is the same as a sightpro, except it's shorter so it won't work as good with 1911's or other slides with a long front section.
I use a rangemaster for almost everything except 1911's because the shorter tool body is all you usually need.
