Bay Area Gunsmith for P-01 CGW Installation?

Anyone know of a Bay Area gunsmith or two who are capable of installing a CGW Pro Package for a CZ P-01? I don't feel like having my gun shipped out with the whole FFL thing and whatnot.

Do it your self? It’s easy and a ton of instructions on the net. There’s even YouTube’s on what to polish if you want to go further. I’m a huge CZ fan because they are so easy to work on. Just need some punches.

I would definitely do it yourself, the hardest part is getting the hammer pin out but you will learn how your pistol works. I think it's a fundamental skill to be able to disassemble your own arms.

I just installed 2 pro packs into a p-01 and sp01 tac. I would have your internals polished too while everything is out. I’d do it for you but I’m out in Sacramento.

It’s not that hard but you need to order a slave pin from CGW right now. Jan 1, you can’t . Order some extra trigger return springs and slide stops if you plan on a high round count.

I’d recommend trying it yourself first. If you get stuck, you can call them and they’re very helpful. And if that fails, you can still drop off everything in a bag with a gunsmith to piece back together.

Full disclosure...I'm not overly "handy." I would be an absolute dead man if it wasn't for Youtube. It really is something that you can do yourself, but be prepared for an experience that isn't particularly fun.

Thanks for the insight. The reason why I'm looking for someone to do it is because I have a 2 month old. I won't be able to just dedicate hours trying to deal with the install. I can already see it just sitting there never getting completed.

Yeah the decocker spring mechanism is tricky. It needs your full dedicated focus for at least couple hours.

A couple of tips if you end up doing it yourself.

1. The hammer spring plug detaining pin can be used as a slave pin. You do not need to buy one from CGW.
2. Purchase your hammer and disconnector with an extra strut. Have CGW install those together for you. They will gladly do it. It's a motherless to get them put together, and you definitely need specialized tooling for that. Or a strong arm. Which I don't have.
3. Purchase extra lifter springs.
4. When messing with the sear cage, do so inside a plastic bag lest you want to lose said lifter springs.
5. Buying a $10 dental pick kit from Target is really helpful for setting the sear springs.
6. The adjustment screw on the trigger is harder than the frame material and will create a divot into it. That is normal and expected. That divot will harden after repeated impact.
7. You absolutely need a hammer and punch set if you aren't aware. You can get a cheap one off of amazon. Works well.
8. Make sure you remove the sear pin retaining washer before spending 30 minutes trying to punch out the sear pin LOL.

Ryan polishes the internals as well. He does cerakoting for Cajun Gun Works guns, he knows CZ's very well. He's done 2 PCR's a 75B in 40S&W and tons of other guns for me. He's very busy though, so it might take him a bit. Good luck.

Having CGW assemble the new hammer with the strut is a great idea. If they have a sear cage to sell,have them assemble that also. Swapping out the rest on your own would become simpler!
