Parking tickets are important. In 1977, the "Son of Sam" serial killer was caught after detectives traced an illegally parked vehicle that was ticketed near the scene of his final crime.Too many parking tickets? Believe it or not, ten year ban.
That’s insane! I do mods in kern country frequently and the longest I waited was two weeks. This is a fact. Normally I don't change guns during the two years. One time I submitted a modification and was going nuts waiting since it took 4+ months to get approved. I really wanted to carry that gun but 10000000% knew I couldn't until I got the updated license showing the firearm listed.
So, what are the changes and how they relevant to this discussion?I just reviewed the OC Sherifs Terms Of License. The updated one is dated 8-2024. They made a few changes since the one back in 2020
California DOJ’s database of persons, colloquially called RAP sheets (which feeds into CLETS), also includes anyone who’s ever had a background check for professional licenses. If you’re a teacher, realtor, lawyer, doctor, nurse, stock/insurance broker, armed or unarmed security guard, cop, civilian employee of a law enforcement agency, city/county/state employee, then you have a so-called RAP sheets in California.Your plates are not linked to your CCW, and running the plates of a rental or borrowed vehicle will give them nothing.
If they run your ID solely for DMV, it won’t flag CCW.
However, if they hit the C.L.E.T.S (California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System), and query your RAP (Record of Arrests and Prosecutions) Sheet for “wants and warrants”, etc., it will reflect your CCW.
Why do you have a RAP Sheet? Every CCW issued in CA bears a “CII Number”. That is the “Criminal Information Index” file which contains records of anyone fingerprinted in CA (criminals) plus individuals under restraining orders and persons fingerprinted for special purposes (school duty) and CCW.
Please see: The OAG’s page: fingerprint background checks and limit your focus to paragraphs 2 and 3 or your eyes will bleed.
Best.
The linked article is missing a key piece of information: the pistol he used in this self-defense shooting wasn’t listed on his CCW. That is why LAPD revoked his license.![]()
Vince Ricci: Philanthropist who shot at armed would-be robbers gets conceal carry permit revoked
A nonprofit founder known for holding massive toy drives in Los Angeles claims his carry concealed weapon (CCW) permit got taken away after getting in a shootout with would-be robbers at his own home.www.foxla.com
I never followed up on what ended up happening eventually as it's a relatively older case. It was all over the news for a brief bit of the news cycle and reddit and then kind of fizzled out.
You don't have to use gun listed on CCW permit in your own homeThe linked article is missing a key piece of information: the pistol he used in this self-defense shooting wasn’t listed on his CCW. That is why LAPD revoked his license.
To add some detail, the pistol he used was identical to one listed on his CCW that had been stolen in the prior burglary referenced in the article. He bought the exact same model as a replacement, so the only difference was the serial number, but didn’t re-qualify with it.
Was the reason for the revocation a pedantic technicality? Absolutely yes! But was this a clear violation of the CCW statute and LAPD policy? Also absolutely yes!
The outcome was that LASD issued him a CCW, probably as a lowkey slight against LAPD, because those two agencies have a contentious relationship.
The shooting occurred on his curtilage but his own surveillance footage showed that he’d been carrying concealed off of his property. You don't have to use gun listed on CCW permit in your own home
oh, that makes sense thenThe shooting occurred on his curtilage but his own surveillance footage showed that he’d been carrying concealed off of his property.

Correct. I mentioned that earlier/elsewhere in that thread to supplement the article. The linked article is missing a key piece of information: the pistol he used in this self-defense shooting wasn’t listed on his CCW. That is why LAPD revoked his license.
