I’ve used Accurate Arms a number of times. With Tabors in San Bruno and Imbert’s in San Carlos closed, the old school gun smith at Reed’s retired, and John Jardine now passed, there aren’t many choices. I took a chance a while ago and brought some work to Accurate Arms a year and a half ago. They did a good job. Since then I’ve brought them work. They do good work, reasonable prices, and very acceptable turn around times. If you are looking for a gunsmith in the San Francisco Bay Area, this is a good one to use.

I think the hard part about finding people who already have the skillset that you seek is that they mostly work for themselves already and will already make more money than you are likely offering.
You might do better to setup a deal with a local independent to take your gunsmithing work at a negotiated rate than to find someone who wants to come and work under your roof.

As a degenerate gen Z / millennial self employed worker... they do say nobody wants to work from my generation....

On a serious note, I do wonder if we will have a loss of skilled labor knowledge transfer as baby boomers and older Gen X die off.

Maybe try hiring someone as an apprentice and teaching them? Seems like a lot of gunsmithing is pretty basic work except for the fancy stuff

We are more than willing to hire an apprentice and teaching them. This is a field that a quality trusted armorer is hard to find. We'd like to find someone who is naturally mechanically inclined. People can learn the process, but certain skillsets on how to achieve the process can be difficult to teach. We are open to any/all candidates

Pay is dependent upon experience. We are willing to pay for a quality candidate.
Being a licensed FFL, we have to keep things in house and legitimate. Any independent who "works out of their garage" wouldn't be an option unfortunately. The firearms will need to stay within our shop. We have an established reputation that we are striving to maintain. Losing control of the firearm could potentially put that reputation at risk.
