Law Appeals Court Blocks California’s Background Checks for Ammunition Buyers - (7-24-2025)

Wild Horse Ammunition's 1500rd packs are the best deal I've seen today. No tax.

CODE: CaliforniaFreedom for Free Shipping over $119

It's Thursday, so either tomorrow or Monday they will get a stay then on to the full en banc. And I doubt it'll be Monday because EMERGENCY!!!!

I'm sitting this one out. No fun money at the moment. Enjoy, my friends!!!

If caldoj issues a bulletin allowing local ffls to sell, I'll run out and buy a couple boxes to celebrate and shake my ffls hand without handing over my ID and fingerprints.

Where are all the pessimists now?

The tide is turning, people . . .
I do not recall anyone arguing that the ammunition tax was going to remain in place in the 11% thread. It still might. I wouldn’t get too excited, CA has propensity to do what ever in wants and apply the law as the State see’s fit. Look no further than the CA Sanctuary City Policies. Federal Law and Judicial Rulings mean nothing if counter to the CA 🍌 ideology.

Many were never going to pay the 11% tax on ammunition however. There is no way the state could affectively enforce it. It is not like the state was going to have check points all along the state border searching for ammunition.

Just ordered from Rivertown Munitions....

1000rd case PMC Xtac 55gr 556
1000rd case Fiocchi 9mm 124gr
100rd case Fiocchi 12ga buckshot

Free shipping, no tax outside PA $705 out the door. Turners would have been $1200 for the SAME order.
Good haul!

Putting my tinfoil hat on here, but my guess is they are taking note of what oos retailers are shipping. Then they'll threaten legal action unless they fork over records and 11% payment of all sales sent to californians. After all california says the 11% tax is on the dealers plate.

The californian customers aren't responsible for the tax.

Yes, this is very in keeping with how the state conducts itself.

Target Sports has great deals... and offers free shipping on bulk orders
TSUSA has a membership plan, ammoplus. Then you get a discounted price and free shipping on any order IIRC. They also send an annual present worth about the cost of the membership, or more.
It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out. If they say that (Saint) Benitez's decision is in effect, that's pretty sweet. I and a few others were in the courtroom to observe the arguments a while back (Dec 2023?). The arguments by the state were really lame. They weren't even that good. Given Bruen, if the state was honest, they'd quit this fight and do something that would actually benefit the entire state of Ca. How much money has been spent on this ego trip/boondoggle? It's amazing the things they choose to chase, and the things they choose to ignore.

Ill get excited when im not paying the extra 11 percent, this really means ive saved $1-$5 and a whole minute or 2 at the counter….
