Question Apex barrel

Anyone know where I can get an apex barrel gunsmith fitted in SoCal? or does anyone know any websites that will ship jigs to CA? Thanks in advance!

Ive done 3 of them, you don't need a jig if you can't find one, really just a high quality file with dead edge and a flat surface to work on, the only tricky part is that the bottom lug always needs wayyyy more material than you expect so checking the fit after a single swipe like he does in the video just isn't going to work. Also in their video they show it basically going until it takes a tiny bit of pressure to go into battery but I would just fit it all the way so it doesn't hang up at all. The M&P isn't oversprung even with the stock recoil spring I found it's more reliable to take a bit more material off, it can get hung up out of battery otherwise.

Honestly the stock one is fine even with my 130 power factor hand loads. I would only go lower if you find the muzzle dipping on fast doubles.

I have an extra plastic jig if you wanna pay to ship it out, I paid like 15 bucks for it on GAFS but don't really wanna bother reselling it TBH.

I did mine recently for the MP 2.0 and like RustVendor said, it isn't hard but that bottom lug took like an hour of filing for me because I didn't want to go too far. The top part was done in like 5 minutes. I was also considering taking it to a smith but it really is easy as long as you take your time and keep reconfirming fit, you will be fine.

I fit Barsto, Apex, Kart and just about any other brand of pistol barrels into frames/slides.
I am in Van Nuys.

I do this work on a milling machine.
None of the jigs are as good a proper milling machine as far as keeping the parts straight/square.

I've been to AR15barrels several times and always had a good experience. Highly recommended.

Fellow m&p enjoyers. I just got some rounds down range and my trigger is like freezing up. I ran bill drills and if I’m prepping my trigger I’m getting good light pulls. But I think if a shot bumps my hand or I full let off the trigger and I engage again it’s like I’m hitting a wall. This is causing inconsistent splits and trigger anticipation.

I installed the trigger myself I replaced the plunger and spring with apex’s. Kept the factory trigger reset spring, and I think I’m using the orange spring for the sear housing. This is a 5” slide on a poly frame. Let me know if you have any ideas. I’ll be calling apex customer service tomorrow and see if they can help diagnose.

Take the slide off and see if you can recreate it just by pulling the trigger a bit, the apex uses that "forward set sear activator" that you should have switched out with the sear, I found when I installed an apex that I had to bend the trigger bar a bit to get it to engage and activate the sear properly. If you can't recreate the problem without the slide it's probably in the safety plunger, press the safety plunger with a punch and make sure it moves freely it could be that it wasn't seated or the spring was wacky when you put the plunger cover back on from the top of the slide.

I can’t recreate it but I do think it might be the plunger. I messing with that and extractor and it does get caught up ever once in a while. I’ll give you an update

Only if you are experiencing accuracy issues with your OEM barrel, they can be hit and miss but I have a 5" oem that's fine. I found the shorter M&P barrels seem to be more of the ones that throw flyers. I also had an Apex that was mediocre for accuracy though lol. I sold it to a guy that ported it so it didn't even matter if it was accurate

that makes sense. I have a 5" M&P 2.0 HD Competitor, and its perfect. I had heard the same about shorter barrels.

I wish they did this for Sig and in particular the 380. Nothing aftermarket at all for that barrel - I fixed flyer issues by getting a different slide.
