I picked up an Aero Precision SOLUS action earlier this year to play around with. I saw it at SHOT 2023 and wasn't all that excited about it. But it seems like it has become a meme action in terms of popularity. I decided to get one to play with since I had a spare chassis and trigger just sitting around, and put one together in 22 GT.

My basic opinion on the SOLUS is that it's a decent action. You get a lot of features (60 degree bolt throw, tool-less bolt disassembly, dual ejectors, swappable bolt heads, ZAI Origin headspace spec) in a sub-$1K action. However, the action feels clunky (albeit smooth) and has IMO a subpar nitride finish (keep in mind this isn't the new 'Obsidian' version they have) and at the ~$925 MSRP, you probably could go with a ZAI Origin.

The SOLUS is often priced below MSRP and there are often promotional deals/sales pushing the action closer to a sub-$800 price point, so that would make this more of an attractive choice and more justifiable decision for many.

Personally, if I were looking to build my first precision rifle, I would not choose a SOLUS and go for something more refined like a Defiance, Lone Peak, or Terminus, especially since the newere 60-degree bolt throw trend isn't a factor for me.
