Acog eye relief issue

Yeah, it's well known that ACOGs are one of the worst eye-relief optics. Your nose has to be touching the charging handle to use an ACOG. It's pretty much common knowledge at this point. Eye relief and the crazy AF price are probably why LVPOs and microprism sights are so much more popular now. ACOGs are pretty much obsolete. I never bothered with an ACOG as I thought it was essentially worthless because of the super short non-existent eye relief. I'd rather drop $800 towards a Swarovski than a silly 3x fixed sight.

I'm not sure what model it was. Too be honest I'd like to stay away from a scope but we'll see. It's hard for me to pass up deals sometimes. I was hopin to make this a close in build. I'm kinda tried of scopes I was kinda hopin to go with a dot like maybe an Eotech EXPS which I ran on my AR's.

I have been out of the sport for almost 6 years while I fought cancer. I got rid of my AR's because I needed the cash about 3 years ago. Last time out I spent a majority of my time trying to get everything dialed in on my long gun again. I had cleaned out my shooting closet and accidently threw away my dope books for my long range rifle which sucked as I use a Zeiss RZ1000 reticle which really requires you to have good dope as I shoot out to 1k sometimes. One reason I got the ranch rifle was I just wanted something fun to shoot at the 100-300 yard lines.

Im by no means an expert on carbines for close range but based on my research, its generally frowned upon to have anything but an unmagnified red dot on a duty/patrol/cqb/hd carbine where engagement is going to be well under 50yds. Thats how I have all my "short range" ARs set up.

LoL I literally was shooting 500 then 1000 yards last time I went out. While u were shooting your $300 high point at the 100 yard range last time u went out /snicker.

As a side note I traded with a local calguns guy. The agog for a Gen 2 pst in a nice mount. Vortex has some decent glass for the price. I'm usually an eotech or zeiss fanboy but vortex puts out some nice stuff for the price.
