AB1263 - IT'S HERE

Some people don’t like them because they don’t ship complete AR-15 upper receivers to California because they have threaded barrels; it was their policy unless something changed.

Others have had their ammo orders canceled even though they ordered it within the timeframe of first ammo freedom week, but since optics planet did not ship within that week, OP cancelled their order; while other online vendors would honor it since the order was within that timeframe.

Makes optic planet seem fuddy; even though that’s just their own personal policy.
See my comment about the WCXL grip module. They told me it was cuz "it could accept magazines with more than a 10rd capacity"... total crap. You can buy mags for the base OEM grip module that hold more than 10rds... 🤦‍♂️
On top of other people's complaints I've heard before and since, that was my one and only attempt to use them, and they'll not get my business ever again.

We still don't even know what parts it applies to, barrels are the only thing that require an FFL shipment the rest is just id and we don't know everything that's included
This is the biggest red flag of the whole bill for me...
"Accessory" is the broadest description ever... I've heard mentions specifically of gunsmithing tools, etc. But at this point I'm expecting anything that attaches to a firearm in any way to fall under this.
Everything from stripped uppers, rails, slides, optics, grips, controls/safeties, triggers, etc etc etc
If they can find a way to ban range bags I'm sure they will 🤦‍♂️

We have the 2a to protect us from unconstitutional actions and a crowd of true believers what could possibly stop us!
Most dudes can't be bothered to train an 8 minute mile, what makes you think they're actually gonna start muh uprising. Corny ahh

Having that Oem grip module is not illegal; regardless if it can hold more than ten or not. It’s a grip module; not a magazine.

Got a notice this week from Evolution Gun Works not shipping direct to California starting Jan 1 2026....https://egwguns.com/important-update-california-shipping-policy-changes/

We regret to inform you that due to new California legislation (AB-1263 and related regulations including SB-704) taking effect January 1, 2026, Evolution Gun Works (EGW) will no longer accept or fulfill direct orders from retail (non-FFL) customers who reside in California.

That really sucks...
Any additional info from them?
Or is this just what we're gonna be looking at?
"Sorry CA, you're screwed. Your governor and legislation sucks. We don't wanna deal with you anymore. Goodbye"

Most of the emails I’ve received from gun parts vendors has basically said some variation of that. Some seem to hold out minor hope for some kind of ID verification system, but knowing this state I have no hope for such a thing. This is just another attempt by the legislature to make the lives of gun owners miserable. And they’re going to keep doing it because there are no negative electoral consequences for it in this one party state.

I mean Midwest laid out a system.
I still don't like someone having my ID on file like that of course... beyond that, requiring adult signature at delivery is a huge inconvenience...
My wife and I work full time. Which means likely 90+% of the time we won't be home to receive and sign for anything. Unless it all comes after 5-6:00 or weekends only -_-

I've found that they often just leave it without waiting for a signature, only time they haven't is primers/powder.

But do we believe that California will accept that system?

You should read the bill it just says they need to check ID for certain items. The only thing unclear is which "accessories" it includes

I have read the bill. I just have no faith in this state that it won’t suddenly come with a bunch more strings attached. The legislature is openly hostile to our rights. I don’t trust anything that comes out of Sacramento.

If it's not in the law or the regs they can't enforce it so Im not sure why you would think that.

You can trust California if you want. I choose to be skeptical of everything that comes out of Sacramento. As far as I’m concerned, they have not earned our trust. The only thing they have earned is more lawsuits against their awful legislation.

I don't need to "trust" them, the law is the law. The state has to put it into laws and regs to enforce it. I don't agree with these policies but we have yet to see them enforcing outside policy.

They just need to check ID *for now.* in 6 months it’ll be “ID and SSN” then “ID, SSN, and your left kidney” then “ID, SSN, left kidney and your first born child.” Never trust anything this state comes up with, because they purposely leave it ambiguous so they can go back and say “see, we left it open for changes!”

That part isn't vague though:

(e) (1) Prior to completing the sale or delivery in California or to a California resident of a firearm accessory or a firearm manufacturing machine, as those terms are defined in Section 3273.50, or of a firearm barrel unattached to a firearm, a firearm industry member shall comply with all of the following requirements:
(A) The firearm industry member shall provide a prospective purchaser with a clear and conspicuous notice of the information provided in paragraph (2).
(B) The firearm industry member shall receive an acknowledgment from the prospective purchaser attesting that the prospective purchaser received and understands the notice provided in paragraph (2).
(C) The firearm industry member shall require the prospective purchaser to provide proof of age and identity verifying that the prospective purchaser is at least 18 years of age.

It is and it isn’t. There’s still plenty of room in there to add “the purchaser will provide proof that they are at least 18 years of age by providing all of the following: 1. Valid ID. 2. A social security number and card. 3. Their left kidney and 4. Their first born child.”

I won’t be surprised if/when they change it and don’t tell anyone. They love to do that and be sneaky about it.
