AB1078 - New Purchase Limits, CCW Rules Starting 2026

Since the 11% tax kicked in I've only bought three 50 round boxes of match .22LR.

My last gun purchase here was the day before that tax kicked in.

I feel bad about the gun stores I used to shop in. They haven't seen me for a while.

Why is that a big deal for you? I've worked at jobs where I had to have a new livescan AND background check every year.

Even coaching little league you need a new live scan every season.

Jesus dude.....stop the drama. It's not a big deal.
Chad Bianco shared that if elected Governor, he would look at 5+ year renewals. He said that law enforcement is notified when you're no longer eligible to possess firearms. A live scan is pretty ridiculous for a Constitutional Right.

Take a step back and look at it from a different angle.

A person is smart. People are stupid. Your perspective is that everyone is an upstanding person.

Constitutional right is only great in a perfect world, which it isn't. The purpose of the live scan is to determine if a designated person is eligible to have a CCW in CA. If a crime was committed in another state, how is that to be discovered without a nationwide check?

Are you ok with someone convicted DV, child abuse, DUI, or other poor judgements have the ability to possess a CCW if a crime was committed out of state?

Carry either way and anyways. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

They want you to play the "rules for thee, not for D" games and have you carry papers around like a Jew during 🥨 rule in the early 1900s.

Catch phrases are great however, laws are laws and those 12 are instructed to judge based on the laws, not your catchy phrases.

If law enforcement was discretionary, then we would have a patch work of enforcement which we have now with immigration.

Do you wait for somebody to tell you that you're allowed to carry? (And if you did have a SD situations without it, why become a boot licker. Get the F- out of there like a certain population of people would and make the LE do the thing they do to get paid.)

I carry a knife everywhere. Well almost. Metal detectors with good employees are my stops. But if the employee looks like some punk, a HS kid, or someone that looks like they don't give a F about their job, I'm getting in. (Easy to avoid the metal detection from these types of employees and there are plenty post-covid.)

I carry without papers at locations known for tourists, visitors, travellers, and residents getting head-on robbed. Remember, microstamping will never exist.

Idk how “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” can be any clearer. Keep and bear being the emphasis. CCW is considered bearing arms is it not? So livescans as a whole are not only an invasion of privacy, but also an infringement.

A new live scan for renewals? Ridiculous. I’m strongly leaning towards not renewing. Too much red tape and too many restrictions. I appreciate you providing this information. It’s just incredibly depressing that the legislature is so openly hostile to our rights. When is the supreme court going to finally overturn all of California’s blatant infringements?
I couldn’t agree more. This state has just gotten to be so bad when it comes to our rights.

Eric Tirschwell and Alla Lefkowitz are the chief litigators that Every Town uses to snuff our rights. They have a symbiotic relationship with the California DoJ through Rob Bonta, and provide cover when the State doesn't have the resources to snuff our rights. Direct pipelines to Newscum? Likely. They also bring huge corporate East Coast resources to bear through pro bono work. They are also both out of state elites, corrupting our lives here. Eric Tirschwell never met a war criminal he didn't like, or a funding bill for weapons to Middle East that could have gone to house American veterans, instead.

Mr. Tirschwell I'm sure advocates for giving billions in military assistance to foreign countries. These weapons are used to kill hundreds of thousands of people indiscriminately by soldiers, but when it comes to responsible gun ownership? Nope, he won't have it. He'll see you in court, in front of the 9th Circuit.

11. Social media posts. Won't stand up to 1A scrutiny even in the slightest.
I don't think that's in the bill it's just the youtuber editorializing

I'm just saying, Eric Tirschwell's own ideology and approach to law is duplicitous, morally bankrupt, and presents a problematic double standard. Organizations that he's deeply embedded with, like the ADL, have no problem calling for mass civilian slaughter through a foreign country using our tax dollars to pay for the weapons, while depriving us of money that could house our homeless, and eroding our constitutional rights. He literally believes we should be giving guns to Israel, but that Americans owning guns is a bridge too far, and that we, the victims of his lawfare, should foot the bill for the genocide. Eric Tirschwell uses American courts to argue that AR-15s are 'unnecessary for self-defense,' while supporting organizations that demand the U.S. government ship those exact rifles to civilians in Israel for that exact purpose.

Where does it say in the constitution you have the right to CC a firearm? I think a CCW permit is a privilege.

I disagree a CCW is a right.

Owning and possessing a firearm is a right. CCW is a privilege.
This has to be one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen.

“Keep and bear.” What does “bear” mean? Does it mean I can only have it in my house unless the government gives me special permission? Does it mean I can only have it unloaded in the trunk of my car?

No. “Bear” means that with a few exceptions I can carry my firearm on my person for the purpose of self defense wherever I want. Nobody should be required to pay the government to exercise a right.

I thought every renewal was a background check/Livescan, regardless?
No. The requirement for a new live scan (which is a complete money grab by the way, it’s insane how expensive it is relative to ink cards) for renewals is new.

The AR-15 is a favorite back country defense rifle in Alaska. Surely no one needs one of those with 800 pound brown bears roaming around.
correct. What you actually need is a 44 mag, 500 mag, or 45-70.
