1951 tula sks value?

I see prices all over the place on GB. Thinking of selling off my sks due to not really using it.
1951 all matching with the log book and all the accessories. Some minor safe scratches on the stock but otherwise it's pretty clean. No rust.

Here's a couple '51 Tulas I picked up in the same month. The first one was as issued out of Oregon, not run much, excellent condition, $650. The second gun was a light refurb, only the stock was a forced match, no BBQ paint, in very similar condition, bolt and hammer faces have little wear, out of Texas $500. I also picked up a KSI Paratrooper out of Colorado for $450 + a GEW88. In my opinion the as issued '51 Tula was worth what all 3 rifles cost. But the guys moving them just wanted them gone and I caught them at the right time. In general the SKS market is flat, with really good buys coming out of Washinton because of the ban, I just sold a decent matching Albanian SKS for $925 to a fella in Oregon. PAX

I got a Tula one a couple years back for 650$. But now people are asking crazy high prices. I think there is one on calguns with ammo for 1800!!!!

The Russians are the top tier of SKS rifles, but the other Euro countries are actually rarer and catching up in the collector realm. I've tried to hold my pricing on what I perceive the value is. If it sits it sits. They can be had cheaper in other parts of the country but then you have FFL fees. PAX

With this in mind, has anyone else who follows Gunbroker trends noticed that firearms sold by sellers who to not allow California sales sell for significantly less? I'm guessing that a ton of the firearms that are sold on GB are going to Californians.

I happily paid 900 before taxes and fees end of last year for a 53 tula arsenal refurb on GB with BBQ paint and the most beautiful striped birch stock I've seen on one. It wasn't far away also in ca. Rather have that then a neutered ar. Wasn't happy with the 11% tax. After that said to myself I'll seek out private parties first and foremost for any future purchases. I kind of like the black bolt, to each his own. Sks is dead nuts reliable when left alone and I don't see myself parting with it. Forced matched wood but still the nicest I've seen with a few minor scratches.

It's ignorance on the seller's part. Besides not liking Californians in general, to many the myriads of regs throw them for a loop, especially the Podunk FFLs. And being on the Kali DOJs FFL sales list is frightening for them. Too bad for them, there can be a chunk-O-change here. PAX

Patience is a virtue. Seen a lot that weren't as nice listed for way more. Of course they can ask all they want doesn't mean they will get it. I go for beautiful wood over non arsenal refurb personally or a non import marked one. It appeared to be a pretty much unfired safe queens since import.

You paid, in my opinion, what that gun, Russian refurb, is/should be worth. The ones I mentioned I couldn't get the money to the sellers fast enough, the prices were so good. During the plague panic buying frenzy, I moved matching blade Chinese C&R rifles for $650 each or 3 for $1500, when they were flying out of the racks for $750 here in Kali. The first 3 fellas bought or bartered for 10 rifles including an Alby at a slight premium. That fella also bought 3 Chinese so I cut him some slack and still made bank. I'd had my iron for decades and didn't need to be greedy but I couldn't turn a blind eye to the crazy money SKSs were bringing in. The ammo deal has the pricing more stable. PAX

FYI, 95% (or a good percentage) of non-import marked Russian, East German or Romanian SKSs will be a Nam bring backs as well PAX.

OldRed9, IMO, I would list your '51 Russian at $1K minimum and hold for that. It's worth a few hundred more but shouldn't languish long at $1K. PAX

There's 2 '54 Tuls refurbs in Barnwood for $899. I haven't seen any Russians at an LGS in quite a while, PAX
