1911 Guide Rod questions

Returning the full length one piece guide rod, didn't have the hole for the clip for take down. Just ended up getting the WC parts linked above but I grabbed a different plug that didn't have texture at the end.

Ended up grabbing new screws, and O rings for the screws and bushings because I'm tired of using Loctite just so my grip screws don't come out.

The guide rod with the hole for a paper clip are usually used with a reverse plug.
That allows you to remove the whole recoil spring ssembly from the slide as an assembly with the spring captured.
A standard slide willl not accept a reverse plug setup without machining.
You also have to go to a bull barrel without a bushing when you go with a reverse plug.
The combination of bull barrel and reverse plug setup is one of the hallmarks of a high end custom 1911.

Then you take it apart like a standard 1911 and have to decompress the spring with the recoil plug and your fingers.
The milspec style recoil plug is closed and has the short guide rod so that you can do it without any tools.

fun fact. U can use an empty 45 casing as the recoil plug with GI guide rod. As intended by JMB.
