1903 remillitarization

I have aquired a sporterized 1903 with an intact receiver and bolt, which i got with intent to remillitarize. This would be my first real gunsmithing project and I'm mostly just curious how exactly I should approach it, I'd prefer to try replacing the barrel with a criterion on my own, but I have no idea how difficult that would be. Basically I'm just looking for advice, was this a dumb idea for a first time build? should i just keep it how it is? I've done research into stock fitting and barrel replacements but to be honest I'm a little intimidated. pics of sporter below, any advice appriciated

Have you priced out original military stocks and hardware?
It's no longer reasonable to remilitarize a 1903.
It's less expensive to buy one that is complete already.
