11% tax where are we at in the lawsuit?

Hard to say how they'd do the PPT excise tax, but I'm sure they're using our money to figure it out already.

I have thoughts on how they would do it, but I'll leave them unsaid.

I would not put it past the state to have a specific electronic payment system that all PPT’s would have to go through before a seller could collect on a PPT. We are maybe 5 years out from that? Something along those lines is coming.

The excise tax will be struck down by then. What other constitutional right do you have to pay special taxes or fees to exercise? Thanks to the results of the 2016 election, we no longer have a Supreme Court that treats the 2nd Amendment as a second class right.

There is nothing Constitutional about most CA Firearms Laws.

The CADOJ handgun approval list/roster, ammo regs, the so called AW and magazine capacity laws, none of it is Constitutional. Yet, here we are. As far back as I can remember things have only become more restrictive in CA, not less.

CRPA with its best effort, the lawsuit will be stalled for many years, meanwhile the enemy is busy concocting evil schemes already. Probably a small change to DROS, category of PPT will incur additional fees is all it takes for them to do it. Incremental up the 11% is another scheme I am sure even the next legislative session they could propose it.

Once you really see how the state operates it can’t be unseen.

In a state with so much wealth, exploitation by government has become a given.

The SCOTUS has not demonstrated that they want to intervene on behalf of the citizens of California no matter how unconstitutional the state laws are.

The SCOTUS have proven to be exceptionally spineless on many fronts beyond just the 2A.

Oh you sweet summer child. The mag ban has been in effect since 2000. The AWB first went into effect in 1989 and changed into the feature ban we now know in 1999. Buckle in for many years of the state stealing that 11% from us.

What? Did them kicking Snope v. Brown down the road for months to finally deny cert on its 10th or whatever relist give you that impression? Bruen is in theory a good ruling but the appeals courts don't give a rat's ass. The SC doesn't care to enforce it either. They'll bend over backwards for Trump while 2A cases get endlessly denied cert or GVR'd.

You sound like a “glass half empty” kind of guy. Am I right?
Respectfully, everything he has presented has been correct. Every unconstitutional gun law California has passed has remained intact, many have been in place for decades. The 11% sin tax will be no different. Buckle up for an increase in the not so distant future. For every road block overcome expect a new one to perpetually take its place.

I’ve been around a long time. I understand the fight. Trust me, things are different now. The worm has definitely turned. But as long as I can remember, we’ve always had pessimists on our side. So you guys just keep doing your thing, while the rest of us keep moving forward. We’re used to hearing choruses of “It’ll never work! You’ll never make it!” at our backs.

You confuse pessimism with realism. The last few decades have shown no progress in regards to 2A rights in California. In fact, the exact opposite has been true. With every passing year California Gun Owners lose more ground. That is not pessimism, that is fact.

Pessimists aren’t realists. They’re just pessimists who don’t want to admit they’re a pessimist.

Keep your eyes on the Supreme Court and the rest of the federal judiciary over the next year or two. You’re going to be pleasantly surprised. But that’s the benefit of being a pessimist, isn’t it? You’re always either right or you’re pleasantly surprised.

People can dream.

I’ve seen nothing that aligns with a reality of Unconstitutional California Gun Laws being dissolved. Until California is no longer a one party rule state, expect to see no changes that favor gun owners. Unfortunately The SCOTUS is not our friend, and they aren’t going to save us.
