Hey everyone,

First off, Thank you to all the supporters who recently signed up, your support goes to directly funding these modifications and upgrades. We continue to grow faster, recently reaching a milestone of 37,000 users! We were just at 35k in February. We're growing almost 2x as fast as we used to.

Support the site by buying from https://2agear.com - If you're local, purchasing online and picking up at the store helps the site. DM me if you need anything.

It's not much now, but we're working on it too!

We've rolled out a new privacy feature for sold classifieds listings across the site. Many of you have been wanting something like this.

What changed?

When a classified ad is marked as Sold, the seller's username, verification badges, and feedback scores are now automatically blurred out and cannot be clicked.

This applies across all classifieds views:
  • Search results
  • List view
  • Individual listing pages

Why?

Once a transaction is complete and a listing is marked sold, the seller's identity will no longer be fully visible to the general members. This helps protect our members' privacy — especially since sold listings stay indexed after the deal is done.

Please do not remove the Title or Price so that people can still see the condition, item, and price for price discovery.

This does not apply to Closed

Who can still see it?

Moderators and admins can still view all seller information on sold listings as usual. This is strictly a privacy measure for the general membership and guests can't search at all or view feedback.

Does this affect active listings?

No. If your listing is still open, everything displays normally. The blur only kicks in once the listing status changes to Sold.

If you have any questions or notice anything weird, drop a reply below or shoot us a message. We're always looking to improve the marketplace experience for everyone.

If you like what we do here, please consider an account upgrade. There's badges and perks available with it, plus it lets others know you're the real deal.

Thank you for supporting CAguns.net.

I love this idea this is why most users including myself wanted to delete ads after their item was sold. With this new feature there is no need to want to delete a sold ad anymore.

The only information that was really needed was what the item was and how much it sold for.

Thank you,

I see one possible problem. When I check the sold listing if there is a comment or offer made it still shows my username in comments & offers.

Added a 30 day cutoff.. Follow back up with me once after a few days. If it's older than 30 days it should delete tomorrow.
Discussions also show my username.

Comments, offers & discussions should have the username blurred the same as when marked sold. Otherwise people will still know who the ad belonged too.

I'll add it to the list.. thanks for listing it out.. I think by default we'll do the main one but the rest is up to you to remove.. It's likely to be automatic if you're a subscriber. Free you'll have to remove them yourself. I think that's a fair deal. The discussions will be removed completely.

Will there be a feature added where sellers can enter the actual price an item sold for?
The listed price often isn’t what items end up selling for since many buyers negotiate or make lower offers.

We don't control that. We aren't going to force people to tell us.. We work by old school honor system. We can't control people but we can just report what you want to tell us and are willing to share..

I appreciate the privacy feature, but can we please add another feature?

1) When users leave Trader Feedback the deal is linked to the feedback and visible to everyone. Is it possible to blur the URL or item connected with the feedback? It would make sense if the moderators can see it.

Or

2) Dont require a URL for the Trader Rating so people can keep their purchases anonymous.

I tried leaving a Trader rating without the exact URL to have that transaction private, but instead received warnings. Thanks

The counteroffer feature can't be deleted by the user. You would have to change it so the user can delete the counteroffer.

Removing the discussions completely is a good idea and the user does have the ability to delete comments.

There's no integrity of the feedback without it being tied to something. People just say, this guys great.. has nothing to do with anything. It's quite useless as a way to build rep...

You received a notice because you didn't read that it needs to be tied to an ad. Can you imagine its hard on you, but we have mods look through each one..

I understand the need to legitimize a Trader review, was just saying if you can blur out the trx details that’ll be a great value. I get people can just make up reviews, but i don’t see that happening because we’re all trying to establish a positive reputation.

I understand the moderators need to review all ratings. I just ended up not writing the review. Appreciate the site!

It's been on my mind, but the good thing about seeing it is you can tell from the feedback how reliable they are. Plus, in the future, they'll just be titles we're going to end up deleting the listing as the site gets more popular to keep things lean and also as a policy. This site is not the main portion, the businesses and community and discussion is the part where we want to keep the interesting things.

I'll tell you what though, it's not off the table. It may only be open to subscribers and blurred for everyone else because usually the people that pay are the ones that you want to know you sold quality things, but you also have volume. So it has its benefits, I think as long as we gate certain things it maintains peoples privacy.

Like said earlier, no one outside can search or view feedback. So its limited to people inside and the people that have badges are usually easier buys/sells.

Great idea. One other little thing I just noticed though is that if you’re looking at a Sold listing, the user’s info is blurred in the listing itself, but if the user has other active listings, you still see “More from (username)” if you scroll down below.
Thanks for the report.. I'll note that and add it to the backlog...
