Xtreme 147gr FMJ allow crazy OAL

Ok has anyone reloaded with Xtreme 9mm 147gr FMJ and been able to load way longer OAL than other bullets? CZs are famous for needing really short OALs due to a short leade to the rifling, but I did the “push test” in my 75BD and got an OAL of over 1.2”. I loaded them at 1.150” and they plunk, spin, drop right out, etc. on a gun that sometimes needs like 1.100” OAL to chamber safely.

Anyone have experience with these bullets? Do they just have a really forgiving ogive? I don’t think I’m making any errors but I don’t want to blow myself up …

I just started loading 147 gn flat nose with both Summit ( Tek Coated Lead) and RMR FMJ “flat nose “ Match winner.

I was trying to keep my OAL between 1.1 and 1.14. Using unsorted brass I got some in the 1.17-1.195 range (Fiocchi brass every time) and they all shot fine through an SP-01. Test shot about 100 rounds in steel challenge.

Not exactly the same but similar . I’m going to try just Blazer or just Federal brass to see if they get a more consistent OAL.

I've loaded those and their 124 flat point and HP bullets. Also mainly use a P10C and had issues initially with failure to feed. Sent my P10C to CZ and they enlarged the chamber for me. Since then it's been the most reliable gun out of all my guns.

The round nose Xtreme and RMR bullets never give me issues, for some reason it's the flat points (failure to feed), usually on steep feed ramp guns.

The OAL I typically load to is 1.150-1.156 and never extended it past 1.16 per se but interesting how you stretched it to 1.2 lol

Just to be clear, I didn’t load actual ammo to that OAL. That’s just the “max” OAL I got for this bullet in my CZ75 based on the push test. I loaded well under SAAMI max (1.169”) at 1.150” and they seem to spin freely in the chamber and shoot fine… I was just surprised as most people say CZs need really short OAL to prevent the bullet running into the rifling.

I think this bullet just has a really forgiving shape that lets you load long without touching the rifling; it just seemed odd it was SO long I thought I might be doing something wrong…
