Who carries a weapon light on your CCW?

Handheld flashlight only. I don’t want to have to point a loaded weapon at something in order to identify it.

Not to mention, if it ends up being a non-threat/bystander, I don’t want to become a potential suspect in an assault or brandishing case.

No one is saying that their WML is their only light source. I can’t speak for anyone, but aside from my WML, I also carry a high candela handheld like a Cloud Defensive MCH HC. Along with a knife, pepper spray and spare mag(s).

People are saying things like “I don’t want to do this or that……” but no one carrying a gun, is wanting or expecting to get into a gun fight either. We all do it for the most unlikely of situation, but we want to have the most advantage possible when it does.

Everyone has their own reasons. But, just like I don’t want to be caught without a gun, when I need it. Same rule apply for all the other tools.

One suggestion I read a long while ago was having a WML that protrudes past the muzzle so in the event that you are in a "get off me" scenario you can press the gun against the assailant and the slide won't go out of battery since the WML is making contact first.

That or go with a snub-nose revolver.

TLR-1 HL at night time into your eyes literally blinds you. I couldn’t see for multiple seconds like it’s a video game flashbang effect

Good post to remind people. It cuts both ways. How many people have shot at someone in the dark in their house mistaking a family member or friend as a prowler. It has happened so many times over the years as seen in the news. They will have a hard time explaining how they shot without identifying who they were shooting at.

Another situation where a light can help is if in extremis you are about to shoot someone who attacking you having that blinding light on them if it’s dark can possibly buy you a millisecond of time and may even cause them to cease the attack.

On another angle. I prefer a weapon light in my Ccw. We live in earthquake country and having an emergency light source can help in a bind. In a pinch you can take it off the gun for a short lived and overly bright light. I carry a flashlight most of the time but that number is way below 100% of time.

Weapon light is for shooting, handheld is for ID. I carry a Surefire X300 on my carry guns (G19, G34, 1911) in most cases and I have a Surefire ECDCL-1T riding in my pocket for non-gun tasks at all times.

Everyone should learn how to do handheld light shooting techniques, but shooting SHO while trying to keep a light on a target is not as easy as many might think it is.

Having the longer light-bearing holster is actually more comfortable for me than smaller, gun-only IWB holsters. I've done 6-10 hour drives carrying AIWB with an optic and weaponlight on the pistol. To me, capability > comfort.

Question for those out there - who carries a weapon light on their CCW? I have a couple of larger guns with them but don’t carry them as much. (M&P 2.0 with a compact weapon light in a Tenicor holster).

I’m considering mounting one to my Shield X but was wondering what everyone else’s experience has been. Holsters? Comfort, etc.

It’s a great round. Also for me not outrageously expensive to shoot because I loaded up on ammunition prior to the 2017 ammo by mail ban (which is unconstitutional) when I found it on sale for $15/box of 50.
