Vortex Torque Wrench

Seems to me basic calibration should be pretty simple for the DIY guy. One inch pound is literally a one pound weight on a moment arm of one inch. Say you have a combo end wrench 10 inches long.... put the open end on the torque wrench square drive & hang a 1 pound weight from the combo end.... it should read 10 inch pounds. The wrench should be 90 degrees to the torque wrench handle. Yes?
 
You should ask yourself, "how many hoops do I have to jump through when It is time to have my
torque wrench/screwdriver calibrated?" In the long run, buy a good tool that can be serviced.
CDI, or Snap-on Would be my choice. YMMV

If you don't drop your torque tools or store them tight, they don't really change over time.
Calibration is required in ISO shops that have to track such things but an average consumer is not going to wear a torque wrench out of calibration in their lifetime.
I own torque wrench calibrators and NONE of the new sub-$100 tools are accurate enough for me to want to trust the markings on the scale.
I buy good used USA made tools and set them on my calibrator for every job.
I keep some pre-set tools set at 18in-lbs for #6, 30in-lbs for #10 and 50 in-lbs 1/4"-28 screws commonly used on guns.
I check these pre-set tools on my calibrators occasionally but they are always spot-on.

Yes, but it's harder to do accurately than using an actual calibrator.

8-13% seems like a lotz

13% is off enough to F-ing cave your scope if you're tightening rings

Nevermind that the wheeler's mechanism seems like it could easily be damaged. I dunno I have 2 of those wheelers and I don't really ever use 'em.
