Any recommendations on a decent spotting scope? All of my optics are infinitely clearer than my current spotting scope.

I currently have this, paid $119 for it early last year.

How do you like it? I just got this yesterday on sale for $80 with tax. I’ll let y’all know how bad it is at 100yds. I’ve heard the glass is alright, but the tripod is just terrible…

It's ok, but my optics are all much clearer lol

So I used the Simmons. The eyebox is tiny and had to put my eye like right up on the glass almost. Just as all optics are it gets dimmer the more you magnify. The tripod is trash. It sometimes would tip over on its own weight. What’s nice is that you can tilt it over so you can look while seated on a bench instead of having to look down into it. I’m gonna return it since I bought another one from Amazon.

I bought a luepold Kenai as my initial spotting scope. Used it to spot small bore rifle shooting competitions at 100 meters max. Did the job great.

Then took it hunting animals and it was OK, since I got used to using the scope seated.

Next, I tried an old school Bushnell Spacemaster 3936 15x spotting scope and used it as a backup. The glass was nice but Leupold blew it out of the water.

Also tried taking it hunting and didn’t like it at all.

The big question here is, what do you want it for?

Competition spotting (short distance) vs. competition spotting (long distance) vs. hunting

When I go hunting, I only use range finding binoculars and haven’t gone back. Are they expensive, yes but serve the purpose of several pieces of gear.

Ideally something that can spot well enough to around 300-400m
