So confused about new carry laws?

Very confusing, so now cannot carry at any public gatherings? So for example, my local cars and coffee event is a no no? Will be carrying regardless but want to know from all of you..

This whole SB 2 injunction thing is too confusing to keep track of. Someone on here posted a memo the CA Attorney General sent to law enforcement in California announcing his position on SB 2 and the injunction, and it was helpful to see that even though he is taking an expansive interpretation of his authority and the law. I'll try to find the link. The public gathering provision prohibits carry at events where a permit is required. As far as I know, a permit is not required for cars and coffee. It's not a problem at that scale of event. But you can't carry in a stadium, for example.

As a practical matter, all the public and privately-run event venues have been no-carry for decades. But as with most issues, the carry itself has not been criminal, but refusal to leave becomes trespass.

In Oregon, "Criminal trespass while in possession of a firearm is a Class A misdemeanor." That can be 364 days in jail and/or $6250 fine.

Violating SB2's 26230 restrictions (as effective) could result in "guilty of a public offense, punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state prison, by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment."

Is this September ruling in Wolford v Lopez still the current? (seems to be) I. too, have lost track.

Locations where concealed carry by permit holders is prohibited:

• Bars and restaurants that serve alcohol
• Playgrounds
• Youth centers
• Parks
• Athletic areas and athletic facilities
• Most real property under the control of the Department of Parks and Recreation or the Department of Fish and Wildlife
• Casinos and similar gambling establishments
• Stadiums and arenas
• Public libraries
• Amusement parks, zoos, and museums
• Parking areas and similar areas connected to those places; and all parking areas connected to other sensitive places listed in the statute.

And remember, the merits trial has not yet happened.
