  • The Supreme Court denied the petition for certiorari (review) on June 2, 2025.
  • This means the Fourth Circuit's decision stands, and the Maryland law remains in effect.
  • Justices Alito and Gorsuch would have granted the petition.
  • Justice Kavanaugh indicated that this is not the final word on the issue and that the Court should address the constitutional status of these weapons in the "next Term or two".

The majority justices are too busy deciding cases which shore up executive power to bother looking at lingering pissant 2A issues.
If the supreme court really cared about proper application of Bruen, they could do what they did in Caetano and avoid all these long, drawn out paths to clarification.
