I was taught to put the timer behind my back after last shot was fired to mitigate against this. Works well, and I can still give good supervision to the shooter, particularly when inspecting chambers.

This and also preview the person on the tablet the official time...wait for clearing and holstering to announce it.

Yup that’s what I do too! You can tell who the new RO’s are at my club when they hold the AMG right next to the slide during unload/show clear

you also gotta look at the timer to make sure it started, then look again when you are getting them clear to see the time, just in case it picks up something after the last shot.

Is the CRPA RO Course and NRA RO Course the same? Like if I get CRPA, would I be considered also an NRA RO?

Keep in mind both CRPA and NRA classes are RSO classes - Range Safety Officer courses. Both are designed to teach range safety procedures for range management, with a focus on California-specific considerations through the CRPA's iteration.

USPSA's Range Officer class is designed to teach safety considerations, scoring procedures, and range management specifically for a competition range setting.

Keep in mind both CRPA and NRA classes are RSO classes - Range Safety Officer courses. Both are designed to teach range safety procedures for range management, with a focus on California-specific considerations through the CRPA's iteration.

USPSA's Range Officer class is designed to teach safety considerations, scoring procedures, and range management specifically for a competition range setting.

I'd go so far as encouraging a separate thread on NRA/CRPA RSO or similar certification.

There's no meaningful overlap with with NROI/IDPA...which are competition focused.

Yea, i mean rso. But lets say I go for the CRPA RSO course. Will the completion of this be satisfied as NRA RSO in, let's say when a a certain job or occupation calls for a NRA RSO?

Call CRPA to be sure, but they would issue both certifications the last class I took with them.
