CCW San Diego CCW Timeline Thread

New update is CCW renewals are taking up to 8 weeks regardless of the website stating only 6 weeks due to high volume. Called the Sheriff and they confirmed this.

Well, That Sucks! That means at a minimum, we will be UN licensed for 2weeks or more!
Yea you would think they would have something in place such as keeping your current permit active during the renewal wait time due to how long it is.

I just talked to the Sheriffs office as well. They stated it is 8 weeks. They also stated they just changed when you can submit your renewal from 45 days to 60 days. For those coming up for renewal get it in on the 60 day mark. For those of us who submitted, we are stuck waiting without a current permit.

My experience in renewing- almost 8 weeks exactly.
February 12 - submitted renewal for CCW
March 30 - received email to pay (you don't get this until it is "approved"). Paid same day.
April 10 - received permit in mail.
Total 57 days
Its taking them almost 2 weeks to process once you pay.

Now that you can submit 60 days before expiration, get your app in on day 60

Update to my Renewal: CCWPRO for San Diego Sheriff Office

12 Mar 25 Application submitted @ 45 days (Didn't Know they Upped it to 60)🤦‍♂️
16 Mar 25 Added Weapons Qual from PWG (Bad timing on getting a Qual date) (Doh!)
25 Apr 25 License Expires (Crap)
28 Apr 25 Received approval letter and Request for Payment $77.00 (WooHoo!)

Renewal didn't take too long.

Took 8 hour course and submitted documents on CCW pro on 6/20/25.
Payment was requested on 7/1/25.
Permit received on 7/5/25 (but the expiration date was wrong, contacted SD sheriff via email. They responded on 7/7/25).
Corrected permit received 7/9/25.

Been a minute since I've seen an initial timeline, here's mine:
  • Initial Application: 7/13/25, appointment scheduled 9/15/2025
  • Rescheduled Appointment on 7/15/25, new appointment scheduled for 7/28
    • Had a chance to reschedule for 7/21, but couldn't take it due to work
  • Appointment 7/28: Payment ($128.20) requested by email at 7AM. Appointment sch for 8AM; Payment, interview, photos, and livescan completed at Sheriff's office 8:25AM

63 days later

  • 9/29/25, 2:20PM -> 2:25PM References called
11 days later
  • 10/10/25, ~8:30PM Approval email from Sheriff's. Final issuance fee requested on CCW pro ($140.80 + $4.22 service fee)

  • 10/14/25, CCW course completed via Discount Gun Mart ($400 total, great guys)
  • 10/14/25, Completion certification uploaded to CCW pro
  • 10/15/25, Email saying I've been added to CCW issuance list. 3-4 weeks expected
Total time from Initial Application to CCW issuance queue: 94 days. Will update when I actually receive permit

Definitely recommend checking CCW pro for new appointments multiple times every day. Was noticing people dropping out frequently

I applied for renewal 60 days before expiration date which was on Sept.
