Anyone stocking up now or panic buying?

I was looking for projectiles. Prices have risen dramatically and most common are out of stock: Blue Bullets had some , Summit City is cleaned out. Precision Delta is cleaned out.

Last shortage , there was powder and projectiles but no primers. I’m stocked well with primers and pistol powder. I could use more projectiles and H335.

Looking at factory ammo… 147 gn is expensive even before hazmat, tax, shipping if you can find it . Cheapest Blazer 124 gn is estimated at $325 shipped. Almost double reloading costs. I don’t load 115’s but those seem to be plentiful.

I found some cheap H335 … before tax, hazmat and shipping . That drives it up to $46 a lb! Thats .16 cents a round of .223 just for powder! Price with new primers and powder is about .30 cents a round. I was at .22 cents with old components.

I’m seeing Bosnian and Magtech .556 for .61 and .48 cents before shipping , tax and hazmat. Target Sports has .556 starting in the .52 cent range before taxes, and all the fees which land it in the range of .61 cents a round! .30 cents to reload doesn’t seem so crazy.

Tariffs and war are making lead and copper scarce.

Yeah. But more so to beat price increases. Doesn't look like things are changing anytime soon.

I like Speer Lawman TMJ for training ammo. Bought the last 3 from Velocity Ammo on Monday for $275 a case.

Interestingly enough, doesn't look like defense and big bore prices are increasing at the same rate. Hornady Critical Duty 9mm 135 +p has only gone up ~$10 since November 25.

Reloading component prices are only going to go up.

Definitely some gouging going on. I had ordered a case of Federal AE 124gr from Velocity before prices started jumping, order got delayed due to “logistical issues” so they offered to send me Blazer Brass instead or refund. Literally a day later Federal AE is back in stock on the website for $45 more per case.

When they say the item you ordered is out of stock and offer a refund or replacement instead, then the item you originally ordered is miraculously back in stock 24 hours later at a 21% markup, that’s not regular business.

I don't want to assume the obvious, but did you email them since the new stuff was listed?

I have nothing but good experience with Velocity, especially when you communicate.

I did, as I have also always had nothing but good experiences with them. I didn’t want to make too big of a deal about it with them, and I fully acknowledge that the optics of my commentary here contradict that sentiment All I said to them was that the timing of that updated listing seemed a bit odd and if I had known they would have my originally ordered product back in stock so soon I would have kept waiting, as it had already been two weeks at that point.

Also, I'm certainly not saying Velocity is the only vendor doing it. And sure, they're all likely just responding to the downstream effects but the best time for capitalism is when there's scarcity.

Both are reasonable prices. Definitionally, not even in the same ballpark as "price gouging".

If you study Velocity's prices, they post material marked higher, and lower it until it sells out. Basic supply and demand. Nothing wrong with it.

yup.

im looking into casting my own bullets as theyre ATM the biggest cost of my handloads. some sportsmens warehouses have 1lb tubs of titegroup for only 40 bucks.
