lol, can confirm on ADE is an Amazon D-tier range toy. Put one on my XD-9 years ago and I gotta zero it every so often and the battery decides if it wants to work that day.

Yeah I'd stay away from buying anything like that on Amazon due to the amount of counterfeits and returns sold as new. Some of those cheap dots are fine for like a .22lr or airsoft though

I had two myself with shorter than advertised battery life as well.

We have small sample sizes vs tens of thousands or more produced. The German Kommando Spezialkräfte wiIl go through more Acro P-2's with their contract in a month than we will use in a lifetime. I had a Holosun fail on me during live fire, but I still think they have good quality optics. I just got a unit that couldn't survive the test of time and recoil. That's why Trijicon costs more.

Aimpoint acro p2 is the optic I’ve seen personally have more problems than any other optic. I had 2 myself, first one fogged up. Replacement had the glass completely fall out in about 1,000 rounds. Got the second replacement and just sold it nib. Have had 3 friends have similar experiences needing replacements and seen several have the fogging issue in classes because they become unsealed easily. Me and my buddies issues were all around 3ish years ago so don't know if they updated anything since then.

IIRC, the majority of the P-2's issues stem from the glue joints and the glue itself. Early P-2's (most of the 1st year of production) and all P-1's had hand glued lenses (I'm not sure if people know this or not, but prior to the P-2, all of Aimpoint's lenses had been hand glued).

However, due to the smaller size of the optic, Aimpoint was having issues getting the glue joints correct 100% of the time on the Acro. Some Acros didn't have enough glue and lens and would/could come loose under recoil (especially on a pistol slide) or the seal would fail. On others, there was an excessive amount of glue that would overspill/obstruct onto the edges of the optical lens and/or flake off during recoil creating debris inside the optic. Just a mess.

Additionally, the original glue they were using was more prone to shedding/flaking than they would like so they've been trying to find a new supplier but I don't know if this has been fixed yet in more recent updates.

I will say though, it's hard to say the P-2 is premium quality when it comes with a plastic battery cap. for that price point it gotta be metal

RMR HD isn't enclosed, so kind of a different class. I daily it so I prefer enclosed, easy to keep clean etc.
