MCX Regulator with pistol grip - not AW

Just saw a pic of MCX Reg with a m500 pistol grip stock. So if u look at it closely, the web of the thumb is above the trigger, which by CA DOJ definition it’s not a pistol grip. So the configuration would still be featureless.

Won’t pay the MSRP Regulator just for this, but for those who owns one from the recent sale, maybe a possibility.

The test for pistol grip is not "IF" some of the web of the thumb can be above the magic line, but is actually 'IF" some of the web of the thumb can get below the magic line.
Therefore, the grip design needs to be such as to not allow ANY of the web of the thumb to ever go below the line in order for a grip that protrudes conspicuously below the action to NOT legally be a pistol grip.

what's the point? just buy a mcx virtus or mcx spear... don't try and make your ranch rifle an AR.... its not the same....

Because it is not the same is the answer. I could see someone getting this set up to feel/ handle more like your Mesa Tactical, etc equipped shotgun.

Plus, it does give a lot of different non-AR specific options like the adapter plugs (in place of buffer tube) to run non-AR style folding stocks.

Sometimes AR abilities in a non-AR platform make more sense for the end user and their specific usage or end goal.

Then it's a stalemate that comes down to opinions. But I'll give an example of why someone might rather have a rifle/shotgun style stock:

My back is trashed, it took surgeries to put me back together again. It is more comfortable for me to hold up my Fightlite "shotgun" style stock than an AR15. And it's not just the weight, same goes for shotguns of comparable weight with the different stocks. The standard shotgun style stock shotgun is easier on my back then a pistol grip stock shotgun.

I may like pistol grip stock shotguns more, And I definitely have more real world use and training with the M16/M4 and AR15 pattern rifles, but my health condition makes a standard rifle stock more comfortable in the ready position over extended periods of time.
