CCW Just got my Sac County CCW!

I submitted my INITIAL application on Feb 10th, got an interview 2 weeks later 2/25, got contingent approval same-day, did live scan the next day 2/26, signed up and completed CCW training 2/27-2/28. Submitted training/live scan docs Sunday 3/1, got email that I was approved yesterday, Tuesday 3/2, called sheriff to see when they could print it and picked it up yesterday afternoon. All in, less than a month start to finish!

Feels good to be able to exercise a right I believe we should have without this entire process (especially the financial burden; it’s totally unfair for lower income folks).

Currently have my new P365, old G19.3, and old G26.3 on the permit (waiting for my sig holsters still, so will carry the G26 for now).

Anyone have recommendations for training/education on shooting, legal aspects of CCW, situational awareness, de-escalation, etc? I do have USCCA (I did my research and believe it’s worth it for a variety of reasons, but may also join a legal defense fund as they are good for other reasons) so I know they have some resources, but what about websites, books, videos, YouTube channels, etc? Would love some new recommendations for content so I can continue learning.

Also particularly interested in in-person training in the Sac area - NOT bs “cqb” tacticool tie stuff but good solid shooting fundamentals, ccw specific scenarios, or uspsa/idpa type training. What have your experiences been with Sac training classes?

Wow that is great! When I initially applied on December of 2016 for San Bernardino County, I didn't get mine till November or 2017.

dang I had to wait 4 months for my interview. To the other guy, the questions I had were really just about the stuff I put on the application. I had a few crimes to explain but it was all 20 years prior so it wasn't a big deal. I think it's primarily to gauge if you are being deceptive on the application more than anything.

Essentially just went over the application questions, and other similar follow-ups. Went over some of my answers. I had one misdemeanor as a minor that was expunged but I mentioned it, he said in an interview like this I technically didn’t need to and that they couldn’t see it, but he appreciated the honesty.

Then he spent like 15 min trying to recruit me and convince me to go take the tests they were doing that weekend LOL

Sac County Sheriff’s and PD is woefully understaffed for how populated that metro area is. A lot of the folks travel to work in the Bay where there’s more money.

Fantastic! Now grab onto a couple of friends or family members and walk them through the process to help them get one as well. The more good armed folks there are out there the better.

I also commend you for seeking out additional training. Everyone should always be doing that.
