First range report: AP5-L

Recently acquired a Century Arms Ap5-L and had it featured neutered and shipped in. Took it out this week and it worked flawlessly in the 300 rds I put through it. If anyone is looking for a MP5 clone that doesn’t burst the bank and isn’t a 22lr straight blowback this is the one to get!

Need a Timney trigger in it next. Stock one is workable but less than good.

I've always wondered if these were any good... so is yours just a featureless rifle? Fin grip and pinned stock? Where did you get it from?

That’s correct. Fin grip & I switched the collapsible magpul stock for a fixed stock. Never liked the idea of having an obviously collapsible stock pinned. Just a looks thing for me.

I worried myself if it would run okay seeing that some people have issues with theirs. Ran fine off NATO spec 124 gr 9mm as directed for the break in. I’ll report back after I fire some weaker stuff through it in a greater amount. FWIW it ran the ~50 rounds of Blazer 115 gr I put through it at the end before packing up.

Fit and finish was above price for sure. Only complaint was the trigger but that is across the platform.

Bought it from PSA when they were blowing them out for ~$900. Had it middlemanned then shipped into state. Sure EBRworks could help you get one.

Century arm build can be hit and miss, depending on which day of the week the rifle was built  But sounds like AP5 is an import by CA, so it should work out better.
