Hello There Fellow C&R Junkies,

Hi Gunners,

I throughout an "I'll take it" on Calguns for a very nice Hakim rifle ammo and bayo package, thanks Willie Two Fingers. It's more or less a push on cost from a '69 Albanian SKS I recently moved to a fella in Oregon. The market is kinda tough across the board for old iron these days but I'm happy and have a '70 Alby left. The common SKS Euro rifles are nearing the prices they should be pulling considering how scarce they are.
Here's a couple crappy pictures of the Hakim. I can't nail down if it been humped or a MADDI refub (?), it's just too clean to have seen action without arsenal work. It says 1971 but I thought that was past the production years. At any rate it's totally cool if kinda contraptiony in function. I can see how it'd crush your thumb :-[ PAX

Gunboards consensus is it is a 1961 MAADI refurb, based mainly on the staking screws being fixed with black wire, fresh stamped factory mag, gentle stock refinish (not aggressively sanded), as well as a"7" is a "6" in Arabic. No refurbed marks are used by the factory. PAX

I bought one of those Hakim rifles way back in 1989. I got a coupon from the NRA for a deal on purchasing a Hakim from Century International Arms for I think $119 if i remember correctly. I was just about to leave for Army basic training, so I asked my dad to stop by the local gun shop to have them order me one with the coupon. When I finally came home, my Dad brought out the rifle. It was in pretty good condition and had a perfect bore. I still own the rifle to this day.

For any old time Fremont, CA natives, I had my Dad go to the long gone Fremont Gun and Supply, which was located in the corner of a now non existent shopping center in the Centerville District on Fremont Blvd.

Funny thing is that I ran into the old owner of Fremont Gun and Supply, Ron Reid, about 5 years ago and he remembered me as a kid going to his gun shop. I was at a Ford dealership coordinating purchasing a new K9 patrol car for the Dept and the man that handled government contracts was none other than Ron.

I'm an old Freekmont resident, bailed to the Valley in '76. I vaguely remember that gun shop. There was one in the "Horns of the Hunter" strip mall In Hayward, across from the airport and Howards burgers at that time too. The best steak sammich on the planet, PAX

Nice Hakim. I sold mine a few years ago to help fund my house purchase. Mine was a little bubba’ed with a jeweled bolt and poly coated stock but it nicely done. Miss how unique it was.
